Dear Sir/Madam,
I am sorry to say that I had a very poor experience at Kings Lounge in Barking, London, UK. Despite having visited the restaurant before, I was very disappointed with the service provided on this occasion, and it is unlikely that I will be returning.
While the food was acceptable, the service was below standard. The server did not explain the price of the fish, and when we received the bill, we questioned the total. The manager who came to speak with us was unsympathetic to our confusion and instead accused us of lying about not being informed of the price. Despite our insistence that we were not told, the server lied and said he had explained that the price of the fish depends on the size of the fish available that day.
We asked to speak to the owner, but even after explaining the situation to him, he made little effort to rectify the problem and only offered a small discount which we declined. Our issue was not about getting a discount but rather about not being informed of the prices, which were different from those on the menu.
To make matters worse, the manager's behaviour was provocative and inflammatory, which escalated the situation unnecessarily.
As my party and I were leaving the restaurant, the manager decided to shout out, "Goodbye, Aunty," which was an unnecessarily sarcastic and provocative statement. I found this to be completely uncalled for, and it left a sour taste in my mouth.
As a black Nigerian business owner myself, I understand the difficulties that come with running a business, and I know that sometimes the customer is not always right. However, the way in which the manager and owner handled the situation demonstrates their lack of concern for their reputation and brand image. This is particularly disappointing, as I value the importance of a good reputation and brand image in any business.
Overall, I was utterly disappointed with the treatment I received at Kings Lounge. I will never step foot in there again, nor would I ever recommend anyone to visit there. It is a shame that the management team could not handle the situation with more professionalism and respect for their...
Read moreI visited this place on Saturday and it was a terrible experience for me. As I got through the main door there was no ground staff but only the bar staff. I didn't know if I was to seat myselt or go to the bar. I was approached by a South Asian man that claimed he was staff when I said I needed help but he was crossing boundaries putting his arms over me and saying he would help me with whatever I needed when I said I just want to eat. I was feeling extremely uncomfortable but was able to walk away from him. As I was standing by the bar waiting to speak to a member of staff a Caucasian man walked behind me and groped/sexually harrasessed me. I confronted him and quickly asked the waiter if i could sit down. I didn't know how to process in the moment. I was told I can sit down by the bar staff, I was waiting for any ground staff to speak to because the men that were inappropriate with me where near the bar and I didn't want any more issues. I sat there for a while waiting, I did not see any staff. The same Caucasian man came to my table and bent down over my table with his face so close to mine. I told him I was scared and he should leave me alone. After that I left and spoke to the security guard who commented on why I left so soon. I explained the issue and his demeanour appeared to me like I was being dramatic. He said in a joking tone I should have told him but in the same breath said I should wait because it will get better. I was extremely disappointed and sad with that response. I have called mutiple times giving the run around by staff being told different times the manager would apparently be in. I gave them my number for the manager to contact me. I got a message from someone however when I asked for clarification on who I was talking to I never heard back from them again.
I need to understand how this business is ran and the safety precautions...
Read moreKings lounge is a great place to be if you are looking for good food and drinks and want to meet guys, especially black guys. It's a Nigerian restaurant but westernized cos every race goes there, whites, blacks, Asians, name it. As a matter of fact, the assistants at the bar are not black. It's a nice place. Free parking in the yard but you have to let them know otherwise you'll get a shocking PCN after few days. Their lamb suya is my favourite. Some of the assistants are very good especially the guys. The polish girl or whatever race she is who's supposedly the manager is quite arrogant and's got attitude. She's not so helpful. Typical. The owners of the place in my opinion are good. Friendly. They do clubbing here week ends like Thurs Fri Sat. Not sure about Sunday unless it's gonna be a public or bank hol following day. The atmosphere is what I love. Lots of people. Sometimes it's quiet too, lovely too. Toilets, clean and smells nice tho you could get squashed in there. Very tiny but well kept. Well looked after. What can I say, their food is mostly freshly prepared. One bad thing I've noticed here so many times is that they do German service. Nobody comes to u to ask what you want, which is supposed to be the African or Nigerian restaurants way of serving. Here, don't waste your time waiting for the waiters cos they won't come, well if they do then you're just lucky. Let's leave it...
