Best sushi in London? - Diningâs (36/50) . After âenjoyingâ some rather mediocre #sushi across the German border in Singen yesterday I was reminded of a great small place in London off #BakerStreet called #Dinings which came recommended by local friends. . Atmosphere: it is really SMALL with a sushi counter on the ground floor and seven small tables in the basement. It feels more like a canteen than a restaurant and it was empty when we arrived. Extremely basic tables and seating. We almost left but then decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed at all!! Normally, it would be (3/10) but that would unduly reduce the overall score hence a neutral (5/10) . Crowd: once it filled up we were surprised to see well-bred and well-clad couples - pleasant for the eye in this well-kept secret.(7/10) . Food: very, very good. The herringđ in lemon đ was amazing with a perfectly balanced sauce. The (standard) rolls like hot tuna and salmon-avocado were out of this world đ! The nigiri đŁ chosen from the specialâs menu, I.e. tuna with foie gras and truffle were simply mouthwatering. Not cheap bUt worth every penny. I hardly ever go to (9/10) but it was REALLY good. . Drinks: the sake selection is wide and exclusive. As I am not a big fan no review of this. They had #cokezero which saves the day for me. Wine list reasonable with decent champagne selection but no #demisec. (7/10). . Service: friendly, informed, fast (just had to wait a bit for the bill). Good explanations re specials and interesting information âčïž provided on the history of the place. They have a sister resto in SW3 (will come in a separate review) and also one in #telaviv in #israel. DEF on our list next time we head out there. (8/10)

Read moreWe had heard rave reviews about this place so wanted to check it out. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype.
Things started off promising: some crispy mini fish tacos which wereâŠnothing crazy but ok to kick off a meal. They were fresh if nothing else.
This was followed by a delectable spicy salmon soup, bold and balanced with flavour; would definitely recommend.
Things continued well with a yellowtail ceviche. Again, fresh and lively with flavour.
âCoolâ I think âthis has been tasty af, started off promising - Iâll write that in my review. Iâm excited for the sushi that is to come. I hope it doesnât start dropping offâ
But then it started dropping off. Not only did the service slow, but the sushi that followed was simply not good. Iâd even go as far as saying it was bad. We thought weâd order some of their special open sushi. The dishes arrived confused. Drowning in heavy molten of mixed mayos and sprinkles. Too much ponzu miso glaze truffle riff raff. The art of the fish, rice and seaweed was lost, gasping for air. And I could barely breathe either as I suffocated on some overbearingly rich green sauce that had melted on my yellowtail. The salmon, on the other hand, had little flavour whatsoever, only some sweet yuzu which, again overpowered the rest of the roll. The spicy tuna - hardly spicy. And again, mayo was just unnecessary. Flavours aside, and unlike their compatriot starters, these sushi did not taste fresh.
Iâll leave it there. But we left disappointed, with heavy stomachs, and very light wallets after the giant hole of cash it burned in the bank balance.
Sorry folks, there are better places to eat sushi London. Go to...
Read moreHaving read previous reviews about Dinings, I was excited to see what all the fuss what about.
It was a busy Saturday night, the gentleman who greeted us on arrival was pleasant and offered to take our coats before leading us down a very thin staircase to our seats. The restaurant wasnât what I was expecting as it was very cramped and to be honest, it wasnât nice due to the proximity of the people right next to us..
Our waiter was ok and mentioned about the specials on the blackboard behind the seats but written small enough you could hardly read it. ( maybe have a print out when people arrive to look at rather than peering over people whilst they eat )
For Starters we had a selection of Chips with Wagyu, Crab and Scallops which were really tasty and enjoyable..
Unfortunately the rest of the experience wasnât the greatest. The Nigiri was on the small side from what Iâve had in other places but the most disappointing was the sushi. There wasnât much of a flavour due to the amount of mayonnaise used, there wasnât a lot of colour added either and for the price it wasnât well presented just put on a plate.
Iâm not a sushi connoisseur but for these prices I would have expected a dancing plate or at least some vibrant colours, some salad or some Chinese spices to...
