Great pub & whiskey bar, which has a nice food menu featuring ribs. The staff are always friendly, which alone makes one want to come back! Now the food is also worth a mention because their predominantly rib based menu is finger licking good. Although I was tempted to drop my review to 3★ due to my favourite dish of piggy fries & pulled pork no longer being served with their fab slaw : ( ... this used to elevate this dish to another level and I was sad to see it being dropped. When I asked the waitress about this she queried the kitchen and came back saying that it never came served with a slaw to her knowledge even though we had this several times over the past few months. [Edit: Found and added a photo of the piggy fries, pulled pork dish which came with the house slaw served on the side] To be fair she did say she started working there recently. You could say I am being a little picky, but it's worth pointing out these things as it was what I used to tempt my mates with to come to this pub rather than going elsewhere. Still a fantastic pub and if you are into whiskey, well just take a look at the photos I took of the bar, nothing more to say.

Walking towards Edgware Road along Crawford Place, this pub looks really small and easy to miss. In reality it is a decent size (not too big), L-shape gem of the Victorian era. Instantly it has a lovely feel about it. Cool music and a great selection of real ales and craft beers. Also prides itself on its huge whisky selection (over 230, according to the inscription on the window) and its gastro food. The staff are always welcoming and appear genuinely happy to be there. I watched the barman engage with an American couple who asked for “two beers”. He took the time to explain the difference between ales, craft beers and lagers and encouraged them to try. I’ve observed similar behaviour many times there now. For me, Edgware Road has no redeeming features and so this is a great find. Don’t miss out - seek it out! EDIT: Minor criticism, but the Gents toilets do need a refurbishment! Really small space and nowhere dry to put a bag down.

The Lord Wargrave: Marylebone’s Ultimate Gastropub & Whisky Bar!! I found this pub at 40-42 Brendon St in Marylebone and immediately fell in love with it, The Lord Wargrave is the city’s top gastropub for the best pub food in London and a must-visit whisky bar Marylebone. It's open daily from 12:00 to 11pm (I think), but this cosy, artfully smoked pub is a true Marylebone gem. My Highlights Whisky selection unmatched by any pub in London In-house smokehouse aroma that wafts through the taproom is SO SO NICE St. Louis pork belly rib (£18): fall-off-the-bone tender with a smoky, sticky glaze Smoked bone marrow on toasted sourdough (£10): rich, buttery indulgence with crisp toast Caesar salad (£17): crisp romaine, tangy dressing and shards of Parmesan, it's to CRY for. Overall this is one of my favourite reviews I've ever written. Honestly it's a must visit if you visit Marylebone!!

Such a shame that this place didn't live up to its expectation. When I previously popped in, it was buzzing, the atmosphere was great staff were very helpful.

I went for a la carte, today ( at saturday) there were 9 of us. My booking was from 12.30pm to 3pm..we were told we had to vacate the table for 2.30!! How and why when the booking was till 3.

We ordered drinks ( bottles of wine) and all the starters x2/ 3 on some of these. The waiter brought the wine lay it in its cooler and walked off..he passed the glasses from one side of the table to one of my guests...and my guests passed this along..because he couldn't be bothered to walk around the table.

It was around 1.30ish..and we wanted to order the whole chicken (£38) for the table and some sides.the waiter took our order and came back and said sorry we don't have a whole chicken it was 1.30pm, a Saturday and they don't have the main dish available..they tried to make us go for the beef and pork sharers platter (£68)

This place ruined our Christmas meal !!!!!! I was so upset. We believe they didn't serve us the whole chicken so they could have the table back !!!

We didn't get an apology..the atmosphere was off..as if we were not wanted!

We paid the £263 bill and did the pay the service, as there was none!

Awful place...get some training in for your staff..and learn to respect your guests..

If you got this right..it could be a place I could visit often.

I won't be coming here ever again..

Absolutely poor service..!!!!

...........

I can't seem to respond to the response below , so I've had to update my review.

Your response was absolute lies and nonsense. No we were not asked about our wine being poured.

And no you are wrong we were asked to leave at 2.30pm.

You ran out of whole chicken at lunch on a Saturday? Makes no business sense.

And no the waiter didn't communicate with us in a respectful manner.

We understand that you are going to deny what actually happened, and not care about how we were treated. But ofcourse your other reviews are pretty good, so why would you.

Your response says it all.

I live close by, and will never visit this place again, shocking experience, better if you go somewhere else to...

I visited the Lord Wargrave with my parents for a late Saturday lunch, planning to settle in for the afternoon and enjoy some drinks. Things started off really well — great service, fantastic food, and a nice, relaxed atmosphere. Once we’d finished eating and had a couple of drinks, we were politely asked to move to the bar area as they needed our table back for other diners. No problem at all; they even set us up with a table in the bar and assured us we could carry on drinking there as long as we liked.

But not long after, we were asked to leave that table too as they wanted to seat a walk in group to eat?! By this point, we’d spent a fair amount on food and drinks, and my partner had just joined us from work, considering ordering a bite to eat. Instead of feeling welcome, we were left feeling like we were being pushed out simply because we were no longer eating.

I understand the need to turn over restaurant tables, but to ask us to move again after being assured we could stay in the bar as long as we wanted is not only rude but reeks of greed.

It’s a shame, because the afternoon started off really well. If you want to operate strictly as a restaurant, fine, but don’t advertise as a pub where people can enjoy a drink, then push them out as soon as the plates are cleared.

Can’t say I’ll be...

My large group attended the Lord Wargrave on Saturday. After being informed via email that although our reservation was at 1pm we would be allowed to stay for the Euros, an employee came over and unexpectedly demanded we move tables. The table move resulted in me ending up sitting by the door and when that same employee brought out our group bill that had many errors on it, the table was distracted and my bag was stolen. I have now lost my passport and many items representing significant financial and sentimental value. The pub caught the entire theft on CCTV and informed me the theives faces were visible in the video but refused to share the video, let me view it, and did not even share the exact time stamp. I cannot help but feel that this would not have happened had it not been for the horrible treatment and move of my party which was at least a miscommunication of staff and at worst am active decision by an employee who may have helped orchestrate the theft. I will never be able to return here without a horrible feeling and reminder of this violation, which will have horrible repercussions for my life going forward as a foreign national.

The food was good but service was...
