New Indian restaurant on Church Road in Barnes. A wide menu including many vegetarian dishes. The food was authentic and beautifully spiced. We had their veg samosas which had beautiful crisp short pastry with Ajwain seeds. Not at all oily. The stuffing was wonderful and authentic in fact I don’t think we’ve had such delicious samosas outside of Punjab. The Tadka Daal was as my gran would cook - nostalgic tastes of my childhood. We also had the paneer tikka which needed no condiments - the quality of paneer was excellent. Well roasted in a tandoor oven. Daal makhni was probably the tastiest we’ve eaten outside India. The food had just the right amount of fat - not excessive. Not greasy. Also had a side of Bhindi masala which was very tasty too. Beautifully presented and Excellent value.

Cosy new Indian restaurant in Barnes. Nice interior with comfortable seatings. Kind and friendly staff. Beautiful and colourful presentation of both starters and mains and very well balanced and tasteful flavours. Good sized portions as well. A really positive experience and I can absolutely recommend a visit. Update Jan 2024: Visited again for take away this time. Still the same high quality of friendly service and the food was yet again delicious with rich taste and very well balanced. Pure joy and definitely a five star food experience. Glad to recommend

I saw this restaurant open, but sadly, l never really had time to visit. A friend was visiting from America and she wanted to eat there. 🍸 🧉 🥛 The whole atmosphere is one big welcome. Gentle decor and very welcoming staff. It was quiet when we first arrived. Later, it filled up. But I still felt relaxed. 🍚 🌾 🍛 The food was amazing and good-sized portions. 😋 l suppose better late than never. What a great addition to Barnes. I'm sorry to have taken so long to visit. Staff friendly and attentive. I highly recommend it. 🍛

Very POOR FOOD BY ANY STANDARDS

{FYI It took 4 months for a nameless response to this accurate review. One suspects the restaurant is under new management?}

READ ON

Reading the glowing aspirational bios of Yogesh, Harry and Sunny, the founders of Rla & Dhani one would expect to be in for a real authentic Punjabi treat. But this is far from the reality.

Popadoms served with a watery Med style tomato dip? No sliced onions, no proper lime pickle, no raita?

It is very hard to fail with this simple and much loved offering!

Limp shop bought Puris with flavourless fillings and a Chickhen Tikka Masala that could have been dredged in from Tescos and microwaved. In fact the waitress was constantly using a mirowave under the serving counter??

No vegetables as sides on the menu?

Yogesh, Harry and Sunny should be ashamed of their sham North Indian food offering but one suspects they are long gone.

As for Ela & Dhani.......they have definitely lost their way. There is nothing traditional, home cooked or even bespoke about...
