Lockdown Bakehouse Barnes was way better than I expected. I went here with my brother not expecting much of it because it was a quite small place but we were so wrong as the coffee was really good and the carrot cake we tried was superb.
Honestly, the coffee wasn't too bitter but it still tasted like coffee and it didn't feel to heave or thick like certain ones.
The carrot cake wasn't dry, it was really moist and the flavour was amazing. We could tell the carrot cake is not a big branch one as it still feels made with love.
The atmosphere was ok, the place is small but has about 5 tables, some of them are smaller than other but you can definately take a sit here.
The only thing I could mention that wasn't so great is how clean the floor was. The floor was a bit dirty and you could see some alive insects walking on the floor. This is nothing super alarming as this is due to the dirt from people's shoes when they walk in, but the place could use a bit more cleaning or, at least, a place where you can clean your shoes slightly like a carpet.
Nevertheless I would recommend this place 100% as no one eats...
Read moreNever tried anything from this place until today. Purchased: Mince and Onion Pie, Sweet Potato and Goats cheese pie, an oat and coconut cookie and a Black Forest Latte. The latte I found to be a tad bit on the sweet side boarder-line sickening but good nonetheless a little less syrup and it would have been perfect, the cookie was on point in texture, moisture and crunch. Now on the the star of the purchase the pies! I haven’t had a decent pie like this for sometime not since the good old days of Jumbucks (but these are far better), the quality of the fresh ingredients used and the richness of fillings is sublime. The pastry light and fluffy not too heavy but just about right to hold the deep filled contents of these pies with out running the risk of looking like you can’t feed yourself without supervision or a Carer. If you are in the area of Barnes or Wandsworth Town I urge you to stop by and try one, you can...
Read moreThe branding and idea of this place is so charming. I didn’t have a bad experience here, to be clear - but competition is high in Barnes and unfortunately the quality of coffee and muffin I had (blackberry oat bar was VERY GOOD) was just not as good as the other locations nearby. Muffin was chewy and tasteless although it looked amazing from the outside. Ambiance was a bit sterile compared to other cafes. The cakes looked good but I didn’t try them. Unfortunately just too easy to walk a minute down the road and go to Gail’s or feast or cinema cafe. Is dog friendly - with little dog treats in a container for...
