Eltham Grill House — Restaurant in London

Last time I purchased Rock and chips from here is was lovely.

Today purchased Rock, Cod and large chips. Not nice Rock at all. To call it small was an understatement, had to be the smallest piece of rock I have ever seen. Also over cooked and didn't taste nice at all. It was half the size and thickness of the small cod.

This has put me off purchasing from here again. Certainly was worth the money I paid for it..

I went in today and the manager was very apologetic. It wasn't the restaurant who undercut my last piece of rock but the supplier.

I was offered another freshly cooked rock. I was also given freshly cooked chips and a orange tango. I really appreciated this although was quite happy to pay for the chips and tango. They would not accept this, so gave me the whole meal.

This has always been the best fish and chip shop in the area.

Used it since I was 21 (admit not as much as in my younger days) due to moving a bit further away in Eltham.

Staff have always been happy, smiling and helpful.

It's also a nice place to sit down and eat, Covid allowing these days.

Really very disappointing! Having looked through the menu and seen all the 5 start reviews we were looking forward to a nice evening meal. The anticipation of a medium rare rib eye really took my fancy. With table set, a nice bottle of red breathing easily ready to be poured? Alas, nearly 90 minutes later my account was telling me delivery would be 20 minutes ago? Calling just-eat to enquire as to what the issue was? Just waiting for the driver to pick up, should be another 10 minutes. I am guessing medium rare will now be stewed? We will give you£5 credit on your next order to compensate for the delay. Being a patient person I waited. Another 25 minutes later to my surprise£52.00 was credited back into my account, not as compensation by because my order was cancelled, according to just-eat, at my request. I can only guess this is there way of preventing a bad review being left on their site. In view of your response I have edited this review. If what you pointed out is correct I will try again, but not via just-eat. In response to not phoning, surely you have the customers details? Would it not be professional to inform that customer that due to circumstances beyond your control their order would not...

I can’t express how amazing this restaurant is.

First of all, the food is ALWAYS cooked fresh, the fish, chips, sausage in batter - the lot. The fish is sourced carefully from billings gate market so there is no frozen fish cooked. All the food they cook is always fresh (never frozen), so the quality is amazing.

The staff are amazing, Barry and his team are always kind and polite and provide the best service in the restaurant and in the take away.

My Nan introduced me to this restaurant 4 years ago and I’ve made so many memories with her here, she sadly passed away recently but I’m lucky that I can go back to this restaurant with all the memories I have with her.

Me and my partner go here at least once a month (recently through take away because of lockdown) but there is no where else I would rather go.

The price for the fish is slightly higher than most places but it’s money well spent as you are paying for fresh high quality food. All of the other food is around the same price as other places but again, the quality is a lot better than other place.
