Had a racist experience here which really changed my experience of the place.
The manager for the day was very unhelpful and he's primarily the issue here. The other members of staff were fine and some were lovely but the manager seemed to handle these key interactions with us, unfortunately.
We were a big table of Black women / enbies in attendance for a book swap event - 1) the manager said the kitchen was backed up and they weren't taking orders yet, then took an order from a table of white people next to us. They received their food before we were permitted to order 2) when being asked questions the manager was dismissive and left part way through being asked questions, despite the person asking having a further question about non-alcoholic drinks (which aren't on the menu)
The manager didn't give us an apology or even acknowledge the delay or issue. When the issue was raised with the manager while we were present he was dismissive. He said "I thought you were having a good time" - which we were but that was despite the poor service, not because of it. He spoke to a number of other people during the conversation instead of telling them to wait. He was belligerent and argued despite the fact that he was present and aware of his own behaviour. We had to request for the pizza to be removed from the bill. We also didn't pay the optional service charge given the racism.
Overall I wouldn't reccomend this place. We would have been happy if the manager came over, apologised about the food and took the L. Instead, we received the treatment noted above. Honestly, I'd avoid this place as they don't deserve our money and the blatant difference in treatment of us compared to their white...
Read moreWe were extremely disappointed with the service at this restaurant. From the start, they didn’t pick up the phone, must have called atleast 8 times during the morning as we tried to amend our booking online for the number of people and confirm our reservation, the system cancelled our reservation and rebooked us for the next day. We were worried about a cancellation fee as they charge you £20 per person for each no show. So we decided to go to the restaurant anyway. When we arrived, no reassurance was given about our booking. We went to celebrate a friend birthday and had mentioned this in our booking but the system had lost the booking. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lovely staff member who was able to seat us. It then got worse, the lovely staff member was serving at the front, and we were left to be served by the manager.
We moved to a table which previous diners had just left, no one came to clear the table and we had to move it ourselves. Despite not being busy, the manager ignored us and continued to stand there wvwntually attendingvto the other diners next to us, it must have been 30 minutes before he came to take our order, he was hostile and unprofessional, saying what do you want? We ordered our food, a bottle of wine and water. The manager brought the bottle over and simply placed it on the table rather than pouring into glasses. No ice bucket was brought to keep the wine chilled, and only when the manager overheard us talking he brought one over. We asked for water, but it never came, and we had to ask again before it was brought to the table.
To top it off, we were given the bill three times and noticed that we were overcharged for the wine. Then, waiting for someone to actually come take payment, we had to call on a member passing by to take our payment. The entire experience was frustrating, and it was clear that the restaurant lacked attention to customer care. Consider training!
It goes to show, don't believe everything you see on Instagram.
The only positive part was the food and lovely interior.
I will not be going again or...
Read moreThis was, without a doubt, the most awful dining experience I've ever had. We arrived for our booking, only to be met with sheer indifference from the manager. Despite having a reservation book well in advance, the manager rudely informed us that there were no tables available and told us to "just wait" before walking off. Assuming there had been some misunderstanding, we patiently waited for his return, clarifying that we had a reservation, only to be told once again that there were no tables and nothing could be done.
This was particularly upsetting as the booking was for my birthday, and we had been eagerly anticipating our meal after seeing pictures of the restaurant online. Given how difficult it would be to find another restaurant at such short notice in London, we reluctantly decided to wait.
After an excruciating 30-minute wait, the manager finally acknowledged us, beckoning my group over with his index finger. We were then seated at a dirty table without any further words, despite pointing it out to him, while he proceeded to clean other empty tables in the restaurant instead. It was shocking to see several available tables that could have been offered to us earlier.
To make matters worse, I struck up a conversation with the diners at the table next to us, who shared their own horror story. They had to wait 45 minutes just to place their order. When their first pizza finally arrived, they were then informed they had only 10 minutes left of their 90-minute bottomless pizza slot.
That was the final straw for us. The entire experience left a horrible taste in our mouths—literally and figuratively. We decided to leave, utterly disappointed and frustrated.
The service was absolutely horrendous. I would not recommend this place to anyone, and I will tell everyone to avoid this restaurant...
