Do not recommend Point A Hotels London based on the awful handing of our booking.
I booked a cosy double in November 2024, paying £117 at the time.
The Hotel offers a "Choose your room" app, in which I selected our second floor room the day before arrival - where we also requested 2 extra pillows and towels (which are free of charge and it is noted to request them in this portal).
On the day of our stay I received a missed phone call whilst I was at lunch with friends and an automated email shortly after at 15:00.
The email noted my booking had been amended from a Cosy Double to a Cosy TWIN for which they thought it would be OK to charge an extra £42!!! Without consent or confirmation from myself!
I had to step out of my long overdue lunch with old friends to sort it out.
Apparently they overbooked the hotel and had moved us to the Twin room WITHOUT confirming with us first.
The receptionist Tilly was VERY apologetic and once she got to the bottom of it she removed the charge but couldn't change our room BACK to a double but would ask housekeeping to at least push the beds together so we could sleep as a couple.
She offered us free storage of our bags for the day after when we had planned to go to an Exhibition, but we already had breakfast and a drink booked on the package we paid for.
We got to the Hotel, checked in and had been relegated to a Basement room, much smaller than the one we had selected with no extra towels or pillows and the beds were still set up as twins!
Tilly sorted out some Pillows and Towels for us, we pushed the beds together (although sleeping together was difficult as the split kept opening) and we got settled.
The room itself was fine, clean tidy and modern - very cosy as advertised. The beds and bedding comfortable, some storage, lots of mirrors! The lighting panel was good and the Chrome Cast to TV was fantastic whilst we were between our plans.
The Shower was fine - but the pan filled up with water in less than 5 minutes - so a long relaxing shower was out of the question.
Breakfast the next morning was fine - the muffins were rock hard, the cucumbers were dry - but everything else was lovely. The Continental rolls and pastries were nice with the Emmental Cheese and theres a good selection of cereals.
The Dining area was very cramped though and getting up to get further portions or drinks (in the tiny glasses) was a pain.
The Customer Service after the fact of changing our room AND charging us extra without our consent was fine - but I would not recommend the Hotel chain purely on this as it is a shocking breach of our trust and the contract which we...
Read moreI was staying in central London for a night and just needed somewhere clean and comfortable for the night. Booked the room directly on the hotel website and had a free breakfast and small room upgrade for my trouble!
When I arrived in Earls Court, I was tired and nervous about my chosen hotel. At this price range the quality is variable hence my nervousness.
As I walked closer to my destination, I saw a building lit up like a shining beacon. It looked fabulous, surely not my chosen destination; I've been mistaken before... But no, once I'd found the correct entrance door, I was greeted warmly by the two receptionists on duty for the evening. They were pleasant and welcoming. The reception area was very tidy, warmly lit and had a pleasant style. I was checked in efficiently without issue.
The room was small (I expected this) and as part of my 'book direct upgrade' received a room with a window. This probably wasn't quite as necessary as I'd expected; at this time of year it goes dark quite early still and the sun rises quite late, so I only looked out of the window to see what was there. I will happily book a windowless room in the future if necessary.
The room was very clean, with modern decor and styling. The bathroom was a bit clinical and bright for my taste, but I wasn't planning on spending loads of time in there! Everything worked well.
There was no drink making facilities in the room, the reception team had told me that drinks were available all night in the lobby.
The short journey to reception was no great inconvenience and guaranteed that I wouldn't need to use a soiled or misused kettle in the room. And there was no tray of paraphernalia which would otherwise just have used up space on one of the side surfaces.
The room lighting was touch controlled and included RGB LED to provide mood lighting. The heating was fully under my control and I turned it up a smidge on arrival just to take the chill off my body from being outside walking around the city all day (it's been a cold weekend).
The bed was comfy, and the duvet warm. I had one of the best sleeps that I've experienced in a hotel for a number of years.
Breakfast was a plentiful buffet, with properly chilled milk and yoghurts, and I took a cheeky pastry out as I departed for mid morning consumption. The other guests were a mix of adults and well behaved children. It was a very sedate and calm affair.
I will be very pleased to return to this hotel in the future and may try out other Point A Chain hotels in the city too. It offers a pleasant experience at a...
Read moreI recently stayed at point a Kensington and can’t say I had the best experience ever. Don’t get me wrong rooms were lovely but very small so definitely not recommended to anymore than 2 people. I payed near enough £300 for one night including late checkout at 2 instead of 11 yet the front desk said we had until 11 even tho I payed for it. I also payed for the celebration package as I was taking my partner away but yet we walked into what I was least expecting nothing was in there except the room. I went down stairs and mentioned to the front desk and got told this would be sorted I then proceeded to get a call and asked to leave the room. I did just that and got told it wouldn’t be long we then went back after about and hour and 10 minutes waited in the front lobby and still no communication from the staff as to be told if my room was ready. As the staff went around the corner where they believed they were out of sight of us they were actually questioning to each other why I was sat in the lobby in quite a malicious way thinking I couldn’t hear or see them both waving there arms about. As I felt uncomfortable and there was no communication I proceeded to go up to my room walked in and to still find it wasnt ready. After an hour and a half it still wasn’t ready as I was only there for one night we had plans so we had to start getting ready and making use of the room without what I expected to be done originally when I first arrived. I then got a knock at the door with the celebration package dumped on the floor and the two woman staff members ran away after about 3 hours of them telling me it was going to be done it was just dumped outside my door? I am very disappointed with my stay the room was lovely but definitely won’t be coming back after that altercation I payed for it so that is what I expected to be there when I arrived but they failed to do so as would anyone else you would expect to get what you payed...
