Back in May things were so different, at the Fig Tree, helpful, polite staff, food delivered to the table quickly, side orders such as coleslaw or fries came in a separate container on the side. Today however was another matter. One lone barman taking orders, making drinks, serving food, clearing tables and on this occasion listening to and dealing with all the complaints too. We ordered Hunters chicken open sandwiches with seasoned fries. Sounded great, sliced chicken and smoked streaky bacon topped with melted cheddar cheese and bbq sauce served on crisp sourdough. However, what came as our order some 55 minutes later was a closed soggy white bread sandwich not crisp sourbread and a very small portion of chicken and sprinkling of chopped bacon in a squirt of bbq sauce topped with a cheese square which was not melted at all. The fries dumped on the plates in uneven portions. No garnish. Awful. We spoke to the barman about it not being correct, he took our complaint to the kitchen where apparently the manager was doubling as the chef. We were offered a drink as compensation for our disappointment. A group who ordered before us waited 40 minutes for their food only to be told it wasn't available and were asked to choose something else. They asked for their money back and left. A group after us also had the same experience, were kept waiting for half an hour after their order was taken only to be told it wasnt available. The whole place could do with smartening up, the ladies toilet was uninviting, drab, dull and dirty looking, rusty door hinges and a cracked. sink. It spoilt what was to be a special occasion. Definitely not worth...

Read moreGood food and beer ,place has a bit of history as it was the old Uxbridge police station .... There were a couple of times where there errors of missing drinks of orders or sides of food but staff were quick and friendly to resolve the issues in an efficient manner. Have to consider that the pub had only re opened a couple of weeks ago so new staff finding their feet. Was the day before tier one lockdown was imposed on London too. Place seemed a lot more cleaner than it was before as I hardly used to come here as a result of sticky floors and tables and there seems to be a couple more extra selection of beers . Hope they can survive the tier one lockdown as the management staff seems to have worked hard in just basically cleaning and complying with the new rules ....making sure customers were too. Hope to be back when restrictions are lifted with socialising my friends from...
