The one thing that lets Firecracker down for me, is the ridiculous opening times. It closes at 3pm and opens again at 5:30pm which quite frankly, I find preposterous as these are popular times for many other restaurants. I am perplexed as to why this restaurant would choose these times as they are literally losing money this way. On countless occasions I've wanted to come here yet been unable to as it is closed, causing me to take my business elsewhere. Because of this, I cannot remember the last time I have eaten here. Not to mention on many other countless occasions, I have witnessed potential customers about to enter the restaurant before realising that it is stupidly closed, thus this restaurant loses more money. To tell you the truth, whenever I have seen Firecracker open (once in a lifetime) I have not seen many customers in the restaurant anyway, which indicates to me that business isn’t that great, so this leaves me more perplexed as to why they would close at these times and refuse business like this. Apart from that, the food is fantastic and the service is amazing however as I said, I have not eaten here for months which is so so disappointing as I really enjoy the food. If there wasn’t a 2 and 1/2 hour gap between their opening times, I would probably wait for them to re-open but I cannot think of a single person who would actually wait that...
Read moreWhen ordering food for the table, I asked for one egg fried rice with a main and also one on the side. The woman replied asking me why I would want another egg fried rice when I had just ordered a noodle dish ( the reason why I wanted rice, was because my main was beef and the noodles were also beef so I wanted something different to accompany my main). What she could/should have done is explained the size of the portion of the first portion of rice; if she had done so I would have known the first portion was more than enough and not needed to order more (bigger portions than any other chinese restaurants I have been to). Instead, I felt like she was shaming me for my extra request for a £2.50 rice. Also, we were not complete with our starters but it was taken away without question. I love spicy food, being brought up on spice my whole life but after about 3-4 bites, the Mongolian beef was inedible to me due to the spice; despite it not being eaten no one asked if anything was wrong with the dish or if we were satisfied. Also, I found it strange that the dish was so spicy, yet there was no chilli next to the dish name on the menu, like they have on the other dishes. Overall it was disappointing, I would recommend changing your option for the...
Read moreHave eaten in before and I found their food to be decent if nothing extraordinary but my partner did not like their green curry. More recent takeaway orders via ubereats have arrived promptly but have had a hit and miss with the food. While garlic chilli king prawns very tasty and flavourful, the chicken chow mein was sub standard with thin noodles and shreds of chicken and below what you would get from your average chinese takeaway. We also did not rate their phad thai as it was tangy, lacked prawns and wasn’t something you’d eat and think you’d order again. The chicken dimsum was stodgy with a very stingy portion given the cost.
Overall their food isn’t bad but is far from being great or enjoyable. It is something you’ll eat because you’ve ordered it rather than crave or would want again.
Would order from them again but would be 2nd but more likely 3rd...
