Fresh Fare — Restaurant in London

Like others have said, I used to go here and it was amazing. So I was looking forward to getting a late night fish and chip dinner. Why did I not trust my gut insctinct the moment I walked in?

It was obvious it is now in new hands. The place was dirty, decrepid, and the food wasn't even in the heater/fryer as you would normally expect from an F+C shop. However, we ordered anyway. I ordered cod + chips, my wife had dumplings. £24!! It was only after we got home that I remembered they had an offer for £10.99 - what happened to that?

The fish was disgusting - mushy and tasteless. The chips went from everything from barely cooked, to over cooked. And it was cooked out the back by someone I could just hear shouting. My wife's dumplings (£8) were something that had obviously just been heated up and you would have got something better in Iceland for £1.

How disrespectful can you be? To serve up this utter sh1t, charge so much for it, and not even have clean premises. They are just there to grab your money.

Even the lack of response from the owners to all these bad comments tells you everything you need to know. Discraceful.

If only I had trusted my intuition, or even looked at the reviews to begin with.

It is such a shame! A once beautiful local chip shop now turned into a dump of a business. Shame on the owners.

An order was placed on Tuesday 4th April at 18:05 via JustEat. The order was scheduled to be delivered between 18:45 and 19:05. It was delivered around 20:15. The first person I spoke to on the phone was lovely, and I have no complaints about her customer service demeanour. The second person I spoke to on the phone appeared to be disinterested, had no empathetic regard for having disappointed her customers and was flippant. There was no proactive offer of goodwill. She blamed the driver for being late and made excuses that he must be stuck in traffic etc. The delivery should have taken around 10 minutes to complete from the restaurant to home. I asked the driver at the door how long ago they had picked up the order. Their response was 15 mins. The order was COLD AND CONGEALED on arrival. This complaint is not regarding the delivery driver nor Just Eat; it is directed to Fresh Fare. I have ordered from this restaurant before on multiple occasions (the most recent being 02/03/2023) and have never had such a shockingly disgusting experience. I used to consider Fresh Fare as my go-to chinese in teddington/twickenham. Used to recommend and really rate them.

The fish&chips is dreadful. The chinese is massively overpriced and huge nosedive in quality. Overcooked, old, mushy, rotten, ancient frozen rubbish for both the chips and fish. Absolutely awful.

The chinese food, which is what they used to be good for, is now horrifically overpriced. Literally almost a tenner for a fried rice. Portions are smaller, ingredients less fresh, worse tasting. So disappointed that what was a go-to for reasonably priced and fantastic, well portioned, meat and veg and chilli heavy chinese is now utterly rubbish and double the price. Don't even try it, don't even roll the dice. Untill they change how they price and how they serve it...
