Came here on a Friday night and Ordered a Family platter for 4: Lamb Doner, Chicken Doner, Chicken Shish, Lamb Shish, Chicken Beyti, Adana Kebab, 8pcs Chicken Wings and 8pcs Lamb Ribs (£72.90)

& Grilled Seabass served with baby potato, seasonal vegetables, home-made tartar sauce & garlic butter. (23.90)

Turkish tea for dessert.

We were really torn between this place and Hala but ended up staying here because we wanted to try out a new Turkish restaurant and this place had good reviews.

Food 🥘 ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Starters 🥖- 🌹 As usual, Tsatziki with Hummus and pitta which was DELICIOUS. 🌹 Best tasting salad I’ve had so far in a Turkish restaurant. WELL SEASONED.

Platter 🥩 - 🌹 They ran out of lamb doner but we swapped that & chicken dinner for more lamb chops. 🌹 Lamb cubes and grilled chicken wings tasted quite good. 🥀 Asked for more white rice instead of Bulgur but this request wasn’t fulfilled. 〰️ Taste was OK. Very mid. I would question the FRESHNESS.

Seabass 🐟 - 〰️ I didn’t order it for myself but it was ok. 🌹 DELICIOUS tartar sauce. Never tasted anything like it 🌹 WELL SEASONED baby potatoes and veg.

Condiments🧂🥫 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌹 As with all Turkish restaurants, the chilli and yoghurt sauce was on par

Mocktails 🍹- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌹 Presented well and tasted as mocktails should. Delicious.

Dessert 🍮 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- 🌹 Complementary Turkish jelly sweets were tasty. 🥀 1/3 of the Turkish teas was too strong but the others tasted just right.

Atmosphere ⚜️💡 ⭐️⭐️- 🥀 Very DIM, GLOOMY & INADEQUATE brightness as we couldn’t appreciate the food properly. This made the experience even more disappointing. Couldn’t even read the menu properly. 🥀 COLD and INADEQUATE HEATING. Felt a breeze circulating in the restaurant although there was a small heating element at the top which the waitress kindly turned ln. Not a warm welcoming you’d expect at a place like this.

^ I wanted to leave for these two reasons alone.

🥀 Didn’t look enticing as it was dark and NOT busy. 🥀 ALCOHOL is served & drunk ubiquitously although Halal food is served and it is supposed to be a “Muslim” restaurant. 🌹 DECENT interior seating furniture.

Price 💵 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - 🥀 OVERPRICED for what it’s worth.

Toilet facilities 🚾 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - 🥀 NO running HOT WATER maybe due to low water pressure. 🌹Single cube toilet with adequate space to manoeuvre. 🌹Has a baby changing station.

Staff 💁‍♀️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - 🌹 The two female waiters were WELCOMING, ACCOMMODATING, and ATTENTIVE.

OVERALL, the food was BORDERLINE AVERAGE. Expected more for the price range; Didn’t really taste fresh. Atmosphere was very dim. Regretted not going Hala or Gokyuzu. Overpriced for mid quality food. Restaurant more of a couple vibe rather than family. Not suitable for Muslim families due to open alcohol consumption at literally every table and I witnessed this. They don’t even have a separate section.

Unfortunately, will NOT be returning any time soon but the Customer Service is excellent.

For the whole experience I would give this place a solid 3.5...

I am absolutely not the one to complain, I simply don't have the time or energy, I'm all about good vibes and positive energy. Unfortunately, me and my friend had a very cold and odd experience at this restaurant. We are Muslims, so we came here to break our fast. We were met with two Asian female staff members that were pleasant and things seemed to be going well. Until the male worker came ( slim , fade hair cut , Turkish origin) he was so abrupt, cold and rude. Ignored our comments, didn't want to have any communication with us while we were there. He then proceeded to speak in Turkish to a female customer behind us. He was attentive towards his white customers very calm and polite with them however, towards us it's like he hated our presence. What exactly is the issue sir? I mean , you've never seen Muslims before? You are from Turkey. Myself and my friend have every right to go out and eat for god sake. Granted the food was amazing. Very fresh and tasty however , the absolute coldness and abrupt nature from the male worker. I mean I have no words! I have never in my 32 years been treated like that. I shared my concerns with my friend who also agreed it wasn't a pleasant. Again, the two Asian female staff members were amazing, I wish them all the best. I am a tax payer, a British citizen, regardless of my appearance I need to be treated with respect. Muslim or not. To the male worker, please change your attitude lad, this isn't the way to behave especially in a diverse and multicultural area like Walthamstow. I understand I'm not Turkish or that I am Muslim but please treat ALL with fairness. May I never come across someone like you again. Definitely will not be...

I visited Guneş in April 2024, a Turkish restaurant located in Walthamstow, for breakfast. My dining experience was a mixed bag of flavours and service.

Upon arrival, I opted for the vegetarian breakfast while my friend chose the meat option. The owner of the restaurant approached our table to inquire about our satisfaction, which was a thoughtful gesture. I took this opportunity to offer feedback, noting that the spinach was overly salty and the seeded 'simit' lacked freshness despite being heated up. Disappointingly, the 'Kaymak' turned out to be a soggy whipped cream rather than the traditional Turkish dairy product I anticipated.

Despite raising these concerns to the waiter, the owner did not make an appearance to address our feedback, which was disappointing given his initial engagement. However, the day was salvaged by the exceptional service provided by our waiter, Ahmet. With a positive attitude and adept customer service skills, Ahmet managed to mitigate our dissatisfaction. He apologized sincerely, acknowledged our experiences, and assured us that our feedback would be communicated to the team to improve future experiences.

In terms of the food, while there were some misses with the spinach and 'simit', the flat Turkish bread was a saving grace. However, the lack of authenticity in the 'Kaymak' was a significant letdown for someone familiar with Turkish cuisine.

Overall, Guneş Turkish Restaurant offers potential with its menu offerings, but improvements in consistency and authenticity are necessary to fully satisfy discerning diners. With attentive service like that provided by Ahmet, there is hope for a more enjoyable dining experience...

11.05.2025 To celebrate my birthday, I chose to celebrate at Güneş Restaurant, and I can truly say it was an excellent experience. The food was delicious! All the large meat platters we ordered were very well portioned and tasty—the meat melted in our mouths. The salads were a great surprise; I chose three out of the eight to eight options, and each had a combination of sophisticated flavors that perfectly complemented the meat. The portions are large, the prices are affordable, and the value for money is excellent. The place had a calm atmosphere, a pleasant ambiance, and a neat and elegant decor. The ambient Turkish music contributed to the overall sense of well-being and perfectly matched the restaurant's theme. Ayesha, Faiza, Cristina, and Ozge welcomed us with sincere smiles and authentic hospitality; the staff deserves a special mention. Their service was impeccable, with great attention and total involvement. An emotional surprise was prepared for the tribute, with a special song performed by the entire staff and the applause of the guests in the hall, who sang "Happy Birthday" along with us. Constructive suggestion: for added comfort and cleanliness, it would be great to replace the dirty plates and napkins on the table more frequently. It's an idea for an even more pleasant experience, not a significant criticism. For special events or a unique night out in the city, I highly recommend the Güneş restaurant. I will be back soon.

This was a good local place to eat. The food was filling, the service from the waiters was good and they were very attentive and alert to our needs. Before we even ordered they bought us out complimentary bread, salad and cacik which I loved. I ordered this sort of chicken & mashed potato with mushrooms special which was about £16-£17. It was so filling! I’m glad they had mocktail selections which is standard for a turkish restaurant but regardless good to see always. I got a virgin piña colada and it tasted good. My friend got lamb beyti and a strawberry mocktail, the presentation was so pretty! She also enjoyed her food and finished it off. Overall I am quite satisfied, I’ll definitely be back to visit and eat here again. Missing a star only because the place was not as big as expected which isn’t that much of an issue but we were quite close to other dining guests and there’s not many spaces set out for 2 guest tables or for anyone wanting to eat solo. However do visit!
