We stumbled upon Exmouth Market quite by chance yesterday and were delighted to find a familiar and trusted name – GAIL’s Bakery. It felt like a small reward after wandering through the charming street with its lively atmosphere and mix of cafés and shops. GAIL’s is one of those places where you know what to expect: reliable quality, friendly service, and a welcoming environment. This particular branch lived up to that reputation. The moment we stepped inside, the aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries set the tone. The staff were attentive, efficient, and genuinely warm, which made the experience even more pleasant. We ordered tea, coffee, a cinnamon bun, and a blueberry custard brioche – all staples for us when visiting GAIL’s. The drinks were spot-on: the tea brewed to the right strength, and the coffee had a lovely balance of flavour and depth. The cinnamon bun was just the way it should be – soft, slightly sticky, with just the right amount of sweetness. The blueberry custard brioche was a true highlight, with a creamy, indulgent filling complemented by the freshness of the fruit. The space itself is bright and comfortable, perfect for a short break or even a longer sit-down if you want to watch the world go by outside. The buzz of Exmouth Market adds to the charm, making it not just a bakery visit but part of a wider experience of this vibrant corner of London. Overall, this branch of GAIL’s reinforced why the brand is so well loved. Consistent quality, great bakes, and a calm, enjoyable setting – exactly what you hope for when you come across a trusted name in a new part of the city. Highly...

Assortment of sandwiches, savory and sweet pastries, and traditional loaves of bread, all of which are simply stunning to the point where one almost feels bad for eating it. And none could be truer for the soufflé egg, cheddar & spinach slider with its light yet crisp and spongy brioche, playfully zesty tomato sauce, and egg-patty that exuded flavor quite literally made my day. For the aforementioned and more, I’m sure Gail’s is the recipient of copious referrals and suggested meeting points. I for one was the lucky benefactor of just such a suggestion following a near six degree of separation chain of events.
Having meet a colleague at work (1), that eventually led to a soirée invitation (2), whereby I meet some friends of friends (3), we chatted about mutual bis dev pursuits (4), and decided to continue our discussion over some coffee and what have you whereby Gail’s was suggested (5) ✨.
But I digress 😅. This bakery and cafe is really quite something, and if it is still available I do strongly suggest the soufflé...

It’s clear that Gail’s doesn’t just bake; they craft experiences, with each croissant reflecting their dedication to quality and flavor.
