Ginger Indian Cuisine — Restaurant in London

I recently had a deeply disappointing experience with Ginger that I feel compelled to share. On 01/02/2025 I placed an order through Deliveroo anticipating a pleasant meal of chicken tikka, pilau rice, and garlic naan. Unfortunately, what arrived was a vegetable curry, chicken rice, plain white rice, and plain naan bread—none of which matched my order.

I immediately contacted the restaurant to address the mistake and was assured that the correct items would be sent promptly. After an exasperating two-hour wait, the same incorrect order was delivered again. I managed to catch the delivery driver before he left, who acknowledged the error and promised to rectify it within five minutes. However, after an additional 40-minute wait, there was still no sign of the correct order.

When I called the restaurant again to inquire about the status, I was met with rudeness and dismissive remarks. The staff member insinuated that I was confused about my own order and curtly told me to cancel it through Deliveroo, advising me not to call or order again before abruptly hanging up.

After waiting a total of four hours and with no resolution in sight, I reluctantly consumed the chicken rice, which was not what I had ordered. As someone who does not consume vegan food, the rest of the items were unsuitable for me.

Absolutely furious with our experience tonight at Ginger Indian Cuisine in Hayes. We ordered a takeaway and after finishing the popadoms, we realised one of the mains (chicken korma) was missing. I immediately called the restaurant, and they admitted it was their mistake, promising to send the driver back with the missing item as soon as he returned.

We waited a whole hour for the driver to come back, during which I called multiple times only to be told, “he’s on his way” each time. Meanwhile, the rest of our food was going cold. By the time the driver finally arrived, the entire meal was stone cold and completely ruined.

We ended up handing all the food back and asking for a full refund because our family dinner was ruined. To make matters worse, this isn’t even the first time Ginger has missed items off our order.

We've been here multiple times. The food is delicious and the service is excellent - very friendly and they recognise their customers which is important for a local place like Hayes. The range of dishes is very good and we've never had a bad one. Everything tastes fresh. They also have great veggie dishes and a Paneer Tikka which we haven't found anywhere else. My only recommendation would be to provide lime pickle as standard with the poppadoms and get a better quality mango chutney. Otherwise keep up the great...
