We had a great time here as a party of 10+ the other week and came for the Sunday roast. The food was delicious and we would definitely come back again. The three little desserts come with a choice of hot drink and were delicious also. The roasts come with a side of vegetables not pictured, but it came with cabbage, carrot, broccoli and cauliflower. Furthermore, their cauliflower cheese was devine - would recommend ordering some on the side! I would advise booking as it can get busy. My only qualm would be that we had asked for extra veg/potatoes and we were forgotten about. Once we had asked again midway through our meal, they had brought it out at the very end - around 10 minutes after we’d all finished eating. However, it was very busy on this day and we were a large party so orders can get lost/forgotten, so this didn’t ruin our experience and we would still come back again. Staff apologised regarding this issue and were very polite throughout our dining experience here. We will definitely be back as it was great!

We came here for a Sunday roast, which was very nice. The only thing we've noticed that the staff was not wearing any face covering which might be scary for some people but we were not bothered. The dessert was a bit disappointing as I've asked for the sticky toffee pudding which I love but instead I got a piece of basic chocolate cake with chocolate sauce and strawberries and no mention about this cake not being available. There was no lactose free milk or cows milk either and the waitress said they have to go to Sainsbury's to buy some milk so we'll have to wait for our coffees. Everything went well until after we've finished our desserts and were still drinking our coffees which we had to wait for when we've been asked to leave the table as the next guests have arrived. It was a bit surprising that we had to get up with our drinks and go outside as all the tables were reserved in the bar area. The overall experience was OK though.

Me and my wife held our wedding reception at the New Inn in their upstairs function room and we had a fantastic experience throughout. Matt and Amiee worked tirelessly during the day to help everything go as smoothly as possible. Even when some of our dinner guests were delayed by over an hour Matt was able to flex dinner plans around us on the fly. All the food that came out was delicious and hot despite the delay and a good portion size too. All of our guests commented about how yummy the food was, especially the Seabass. The whole team were really accommodating and communication was very easy. We couldn't have picked a better place to have our reception. Thank you!

First time amazing 5 star , went back a week later last Sunday 21st for roast dinner or whatever they had as I know it was late , I phoned ahead to check in the late afternoon to see if they could fit me in at 6.45pm spoke to 2 different people , the man wasn’t sure who then passed me onto a girl who laughed and said no problem just the 2 of you . Finished work a little late , then went home picked my wife up and drove 20mins to the pub . Pulled up at 6.50pm . Got out walked in , sat at a table with near the front window with salt & pepper shakers , we made eye contact with one of the waitresses who was talking to the chef who I had thanked previously on our first visit , she walked over and said sorry we are closed for food , I explained I had phoned and booked she then said it was 6.55pm and that everything was finished and put away in the kitchen and that last orders were 6.45pm . People were sitting around us eating their food and thinking back were they not having desserts then after their main meal but I was gutted we had missed out on their lovely food I didn’t ask the question . I then went up to the bar and asked for the manager to discuss why the second person who answered my phone call and didn’t make a note of me coming & didn’t say last orders taken at 6.45pm not a minute later if i knew i wouldn’t have wasted an hour of my life going there and going back home and ordering a take away , apparently no manager was on duty and they didn’t know who the assistant manager was. So because of how this was handled and no one really trying to help me and out right said we couldn’t have anything without anyone wanting to check 1 star for that visit . Would still happily give 5 starts for the first visit but can’t leave two seperate reviews . I will go back but not in a rush and will still stick to my original review below

Amazing looking pub and our first visit , great seating , sausage & mash was amazing the vegetables weren’t over cooked which we love but others may not & the onion gravy was perfect . Everything was piping hot and the apple & sultana crumble lovely and served by the a lovely waitress called Ella who knew...

Ever been mugged at Christmas? I have, I came here today. Inattentive staff. Badly cooked, poor quality food. Ruined the day.

UPDATE. What a pathetic, dishonest and petty reply. Tells you much about this place and how it's run. As you well know all lunches had to be paid in full at the time of booking, well in advance. The only bill that wasn't was the wine, which was covered by cash. We took over 25 minutes to leave the restaurant as my father is disabled and needed the toilet - surely plenty of time for even inattentive staff to notice any underpayment and stop us from getting away with such a grand heist. There was no row with my partner or between anyone else at the table. We were all in agreement that we would have eaten better at my father's nursing home (which would have been a first for anyone). No one was rude to any member of staff. We were brought up better than that.

The simple truth is this was a cynical approach by the management to rip people off at Christmas by serving poorly cooked, bad-quality food.

And if you want to carry on the lie about me not paying. You have my details. Take me to court. Now that is somewhere I would be very happy to see you again.

Love that phrase, being honest; you've done nothing but lie. Shameless.

This really is the review that keeps on giving. Please do read the rabid replies from Jo, to anyone who leaves a 1-star review. It tells you everything you need to know about them. Seriously worry about their mental health.

PS. TripAdvisor are doing no such thing. It's just another deluded lie.

And Jo, I repeat again, if I didn't pay, take me to court, call the police, or summon the fairies at the bottom of your garden - whatever is more real...

I’d like to give some feedback on the experience my friend and I had at your premises yesterday.

We are both mixed race guys in our 30s both dressed smart casual. Him however more so than I, I was wearing a smart designer tracksuit with designer trainers and a designer jacket. Friend in jeans etc.

Immediately greeted by one of your bar staff who was polite however contradictory in his statements. We were told that you do not allow tracksuits in the pub and that is totally fine if clearly stated on your website or on the door. However in the same breath advised us that if we were only there for 30 minutes it wouldn’t be a problem. We stated we were having a quick drink for New Years as my friend was going to a family meal shortly. We didn’t argue with his requests or make a scene just said okay and left.

This was our first experience going to your venue after hearing many good things about the food and atmosphere. I can only say that this was not the review I will be giving to anyone as the clientele in the pub were all white which made us feel uncomfortable. Your bar staff were all white. Then the ‘greeting’ we received was negative also. I would never usually make the effort to draft an email however as soon as I left I said to my friend you may as well have said no blacks.

I’m not sure if this is the write channel to send this to or whether to leave a review on Facebook or Google as it is an honest account of our experience. It may be hard for you to understand from our perspective as I doubt any of you...
