We visited this newly opened pub in January 2025 after booking a month in advance. We were really looking forward to it, but sadly, it turned out to be such an anticlimax. Upon arrival, it looked like they had overbooked as after they spoke to their manager, we were seated at a tiny table uncomfortably close to other diners, with barely an inch between us and neighbouring tables. It felt far too cramped to enjoy a proper dining experience.
The pub was noticeably cold, with several customers dining in coats. Given the number of reviews mentioning this issue since its opening, it’s surprising that management hasn’t addressed it.
Service was inattentive from the start. We had to get up after 10 minutes and request menus ourselves as staff didn’t approach our table.
We were disappointed to find they had already run out of the Roast Porchetta and Truffle Cauliflower Cheese by 4pm. Given that they use a booking system and know exactly how many guests they’ll be serving, it’s baffling that these dishes weren’t better stocked. Perhaps if these had been available, the experience might have been more enjoyable.
Instead, we chose the roast beef and chicken. Unfortunately, the food was a letdown. My roast beef was severely undercooked — chewy and fatty, making it inedible. My wife’s chicken was decent but lukewarm, as was my meal. Unfortunately, the roasted potatoes were quite raw in the middle too.
To their credit, after raising our concerns, they offered a complimentary dessert. The bread and butter pudding was genuinely delicious and the highlight of the visit.
However, despite this small positive, the overall experience was disappointing. With so many excellent pubs offering better food, service, and value, I sadly wouldn’t recommend this one...
Read moreInteresting pub/wine bar concept with superior food and drink, but i wouldn’t go for a listening bar experience. A few things meant that despite our initial plan of sharing a bottle and enjoying the music for a few hours, we left after an hour.
Loved the interiors, very cool design and colour scheme. Delicious and reasonably priced burgers, that cheese sauce is unreal. Great selection of natural wines. Excellent sound system and cool DJ.
A few things could be improved though. £48 for the cheapest bottle of red is steep, most natty wine spots I go to have their wine list start at about £36. And £10 for a 125ml glass also felt like a stretch. I saw other reviews mentioning this but it was freezing, we kept our jackets on. Fixing the gap under the side doors would be a good start. As music lovers we were very excited about the hi-fi concept but sadly the crisp sound system was totally overtaken by the level of voices. At 8pm on a Friday we couldn’t hear each other. Definitely more of a pub than listening bar. Perhaps sound absorbing materials (e.g., acoustic panels, tablecloths) and lower lighting could help. One final detail that could be easily fixed: when we sat down, the staff placed a sign with the name of the next booking two hours later. While we understand bookings are time-limited, this clear reminder dampened our enjoyment and made us feel rushed from the start. Perhaps it could be added 15 minutes before the next booking instead?
I’ll give it another go and come back earlier in the evening for the food and music hoping it’s quieter (and wearing extra layers) or maybe later at night with a group. Last night, though, we decided to go for a much worse glass of wine at the Scolt Head, which incongruously...

Can’t quite define this place. It’s like the Jolene colour palette trying to mix with System/Spiritland but ill-considered and too loud for a wine n dine Sunday walk-in.
8th Dec. Asked if we wanted a roast before even a hello. So I’ll give you one in return. Plenty of tables, however the table toppers on a brown bit of paper… invisible. No pleasantries, skipped dressing our table despite ordering before that. To be honest the cutlery has got to be a joke anyway, has some naff Next rose gold thing going on plus square drinks napkins, all very dinky and unsuitable for dining. The branding is opposite to this.o
The wooden bench round the corner was the only nice touch. Seems like Binch spent all their funds on furniture and sound system but forgot how best show off the menu and...
