I recently had the pleasure of dining at GoGo Pocha, a Korean restaurant located in Clapham Junction, and I must say it was an extraordinary experience. From the moment I entered, I was captivated by the cozy ambiance and friendly staff.
The menu at GoGo Pocha may be simple, but it offers a delightful range of Korean delicacies that are sure to satisfy any craving. As a fan of Korean cuisine, I couldn't resist trying their famous Korean fried chicken, and let me tell you, it exceeded all expectations! The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and bursting with flavors. It's hands down the best Korean fried chicken I've had in town.
What impressed me even more was their set menu, which offers fantastic value for money. With a variety of dishes included, I had the opportunity to savor different flavors and textures of Korean cuisine. Each dish was meticulously prepared and presented, showcasing the skill and expertise of the chefs at GoGo Pocha.
Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend GoGo Pocha to anyone seeking an authentic Korean culinary adventure. The combination of a simple yet diverse menu, the heavenly Korean fried chicken, and the exceptional value of their set menu make it a must-visit restaurant. Whether you're a Korean food enthusiast or simply looking for a delightful dining experience, GoGo Pocha will surely exceed your expectations. I can't wait to visit again and explore more of their...
Read moreThere are few things in life as humbling as the discovery of pleasure in the unpretentious. Tucked away near Clapham Junction, GoGo Pocha does not announce itself with grandeur or refinement. Instead, it hums quietly with the laughter of friends, the clatter of bottles, and the irresistible aroma of fried indulgence.
The fried chicken — that humble dish too often maltreated — here finds its dignity restored. Each piece arrives golden, crisped to perfection, its surface glistening with promise. The first bite reveals what so many fail to achieve: a balance between texture and tenderness, the skin’s satisfying crunch giving way to meat that remains improbably juicy. It is food that does not pretend to be more than it is — and in that honesty lies its excellence.
Then, there is the soju. It comes in a veritable spectrum of flavours — some playful, some unexpected — and yet all with the quiet intent to accompany rather than overpower. Peach, grapefruit, green grape — each bottle a different conversation, some lighthearted, others wistful.
And what of value? In a city all too eager to charge dearly for charm, GoGo Pocha offers the rarest of combinations: food that delights, drink that amuses, and a bill that does not offend. It is not refinement one finds here, but sincerity — and that, I dare say, is worth far more.
Verdict: Juicy chicken, lively soju, honest prices. GoGo Pocha reminds us that satisfaction need not wear a...
Read moreI lived in Korea for 3 years and had been missing Korean food, so me and a friend got the Pork BBQ, kimchi pancake, vegetable dumplings and kimchi.
The taste of the pork bbq is exactly what I remembered, you are expected to dip it in the seasoning you want once cooked. The meat has bones and is a little chewy, but that is common for cheaper bbq restaurants. The kimchi pancake wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it wasn’t bad. The fried dumplings were good.
But you absolutely do not receive all the extras and you have to pay for most side dishes. You have to pay for kimchi. They did not provide lettuce wraps with their bbq (which is criminal, especially when they give you wrap sauce!) They didn’t give any Yangnyeom Jang for the dumplings or pancakes, just plain soy sauce. They also wouldn’t let me fry kimchi on the bbq plates. I guess I understand why (not really) but fried kimchi is an important part of bbq for me. It would be easily cleaned off the bbq if they provided lettuce wraps!
But the price was very good, much cheaper than other places, even after buying kimchi. I think it’s okay if you want a quick and cheap Korean meal. If you want the full experience and don’t mind paying a little more,...
