Really disappointing experience today. I’m a regular at another cafe around the corner, but decided to try Golborne Deli to sit outside and take advantage of the rare October sunshine. I’ve heard good things from friends but the service was slow and my superfood salad bitter, bland and did not taste fresh. I told the waitress when she brought me the bill - not looking for a discount but so she feedback could be shared - and she just laughed. Perhaps she misunderstood, but the untouched plate of salad in front of me should have spoken for itself. I asked her to tell the chef and she scurried inside, at which point I had already paid the full bill. I wasn’t sure if she or someone else was going to return, but after waiting a few minutes I packed up and left. No apology, no acknowledgement of the issue and no gratitude that I essentially paid £17.70 for a matcha latte and will need to go pay for a second lunch elsewhere. Disappointed and hungry, I...
Read moreThis is my favourite cafe in London... seriously exquisite coffee!!- the type of coffee that get me out of bed in the morning- and coffee/tea is served with ultra cool mini-milk bottles and a little amaretti biscuit. Service is so friendly as our the other customers. I also love the fact you can sit outside or at the large rustic wooden tables, good selection of newspapers and easy-listening background music. Perfect place to read the papers on a Sunday afternoon. Perfect for a light lunch- my favourite is the gourmet salad with avocado, walnuts and goats cheese served with toasted rye bread or ciabatta, the bruschetta with avocado and mozzarella also looks amazing and have been meaning to try. The cakes are lovely too- have tried the chocolate muffin and the carrot cake, both i would recommend. all round just the kind of cafe you would hope to find on every corner- tried, tested and loved, catch me there most days along with all the...
Read moreIt's our final day in London.....back to beautiful Devon later. But not before we take a stroll along a peaceful and majestic Regent's canal and turn left to Portobello Market. But first...some breakfast. This bistro and deli was just perfect. Two houses gelled into a wine store and a kitchen with fruit and veg and a takeaway come cafe. No room inside to sit but they've erected a heated eating area under cover on the side of the road. Not the smartest....... but very cosy inside and gives you the feeling of being on a Paris or Rome side street especially seeing it was a glorious morning even if it was only 12 °!! And wow, the food was perfect. Disappointing to have coffee in a plastic cup but it didn't really spoil the ambiance. The scrambled eggs were a glorious golden orangey yellow. The girls serving were not great nor the traditional London pathetic toilet situation wherever you go....great experience though....we...
