After checking out all the reviews which mentioned friendly service and great produce it was a completely different experience and very misleading! The staff seemed not interested in serving us and had some weird EDM type music on in the café which doesn't match the appearance from the outside. The coffee was very average and felt like the vending machine coffee. No care or thought had gone into it at all. The cake was ok but not outstanding. I've read that this is a family run cafe however as a customer it doesn't feel like that at all and we actually felt unwelcome. There are many other cafés happy to serve customers but Highness seems not to care. Very disappointing but hopefully this will help the owners think about customer service and also warn other people to know what to expect.

First time visiting, after lunch time on a Sunday, and we will definitely be back. The tea and scones were out of this world! Fresh and good! We had the sweet scones with the strawberry jam and earl grey tea. At first I was a little worried if I didn’t have enough clotted cream (I use a lot of it!) but even though we were upstairs the lady who we ordered from the counter came up to check it we needed more. And actually I was ok. Their clotted cream was really good. Lovely staff and place. Love the China dishes. Earl grey was loose leaf tea. Enough for a couple cups.

The service and atmosphere at the Highness Cafe and Tea Room were wonderful! My friend and I are from the states and we spent our last morning in London at the cafe and the gentlemen there were so kind and the food was delicious. They even made us a custom Early Gray latte (London Fog) and they were perfectly "foggy." We were also given free croissants for our journey and they were delicious! Thank you for a great experience. I hope to visit again when I come back to London someday.

Highness is a little place at the end of the row of shops etc, it looks inviting and full of yummy cakes and sandwiches all laid out for you to choose at the counter and in the window, the staff are pleasant and welcoming, but they do seem to think that spending less than £10 is a strange idea, so they don’t take cards for less and asking where a cash point is just gets some strange looks and suggestions that you spend more money. Which isn’t too hard, the food isn’t cheap! We ordered the usual (a Mocha and a Hot Chocolate) and took a seat at an old Singer sewing machine table in the upstairs section, after a bit of a wait the drinks finally arrived. Descent size big red mugs though, that’s always a bonus and as usual if you don’t remember to ask for ‘extra hot’ then you get lukewarm instead and we did forget. But that being said this was...

This place is an amazing hidden gem!! It is just off of central London in Highbury it is a beautifully decorated warm feeling coffee shop and tea room. My friends and I from Canada, America and Sheffield UK had an afternoon tea. The service was friendly and kind and the tea was very well priced for London and came with so much food we had to take two boxes home!! The sandwiches are delicious and unlike anything you’ve had before and the desserts are so tasty!! All this plus scone and two pots of tea for only 30 pounds per person!

Would highly recommend going here if you want the classic England afternoon tea and don’t want to pay hundreds of dollars!
