Dear AL’s Beach Hut Management,
I am writing this letter to express my deep disappointment and anger regarding the experience I had at your establishment on [insert date of incident]. What was supposed to be an enjoyable visit turned into one of the most distressing and unacceptable experiences I have had in a public venue.
The events that occurred during my time at AL’s Beach Hut were not only highly unprofessional but crossed serious moral and legal boundaries. I was subjected to sexual harassment by one of your staff members, which left me feeling humiliated, unsafe, and disrespected. This individual made repeated inappropriate comments, invaded my personal space, and created an atmosphere of discomfort that no guest should ever be forced to endure. It was not casual or accidental — it was targeted, persistent, and absolutely disgraceful.
To make matters worse, when I attempted to bring this to the attention of another staff member, my concerns were met with complete indifference. There was no apology, no offer to de-escalate the situation, and no action taken to remove the individual or support me. I was essentially ignored, as if my discomfort didn’t matter — which only added to the trauma of the experience.
As if the harassment wasn't enough, the overall quality of service and food was shockingly poor. The service was slow, careless, and impersonal. Staff members seemed disorganized, inattentive, and untrained in basic hospitality standards. Several tables, including ours, were left waiting far too long for food and drinks, and our orders were either incorrect or incomplete. When the food did arrive, it was bland, lukewarm, and, in some cases, questionably prepared. The hygiene conditions were also far from acceptable — sticky menus, dirty floors, and visibly unclean serving stations are a serious concern when it comes to customer safety.
It is deeply troubling that a venue operating in a public space could function with such little accountability for both staff behavior and customer experience. Sexual harassment is not just an internal staff issue — it is a criminal offense. The way your staff behaved, and the way your management failed to act, raises major concerns about the culture within your establishment. Do you have protocols for addressing complaints of harassment? Is staff training provided on boundaries and customer interaction? Based on my experience, I am left to assume the answer is no.
I am therefore demanding a full, formal response from AL’s Beach Hut within seven (7) days of receipt of this letter. Specifically, I expect the following:
A full investigation into the staff member who harassed me, with disciplinary action taken as appropriate. A formal apology issued in writing. Information about your harassment policy and what steps are being taken to improve training and safety for future customers. Reimbursement or compensation for the poor quality of service and food. Confirmation that all staff will undergo mandatory training on customer conduct and sexual harassment. If this matter is not addressed promptly and appropriately, I will be left with no alternative but to escalate this complaint to higher authorities, including local law enforcement, food safety regulators, and any relevant consumer protection organizations. I will also consider sharing my experience with others to raise awareness about the environment at your venue. I hope you understand the seriousness of this matter. No one should have to go through what I experienced — and it is your responsibility as an employer and service provider to ensure this never happens again.
I await your...
Read moreExtremely rude woman working there who point-blank refused to turn the volume of the music down for a partially deaf customer. After repeated polite enquiring if she could please turn down the music as it was too loud for the customer, she refused with the words: no, I can't turn the music down as this is how we like it. This is so inconsiderate and rude! Never again will this establishment have this customer go there again. She did not care at all. Cannot be recommended.
How interesting that the description of the visit the business owner gave does not portray the facts as they happened. A person with hearing difficulties does not necessarily have to wear a hearing aid. That is certainly not the case here. The partner was not "meekly" standing by but it was him who decided never to frequent this shop again due to the rudeness of the business owner. He was not embarrassed at all. I also wonder who the unfriendly bully is when copying in here a review from another travel site whose experience was not dissimilar to the one described above. "Not a good experience at all Unfortunately my experience of this place was not very good at all. We visited for take out in May and the queue was long. After around 15 to 20 minutes someone in front of me popped inside and asked how long the wait would be. The answer was 1-2 hours!!! The reason given was they were dealing with lots of orders over the phone. This in itself was not a problem but not communicating this to the queue outside was very poor. When asked why people were not being told about this, the woman got quite abrupt. It was obvious that this is a small establishment with limited resources but the poor communication and lack of respect for customers was appalling. I will...
Read moreLadies and Gentlemen your search is over...this is the best Fish and Chips in London!
Firstly, the food is cooked to perfection with the Fish prefectly fried and the chunky chips are the best I can remember having.
Not only that, the restaurant is lovelingly maintained, in a charming spot and the owners are nice and friendly in a proper old school London way.
And did I mention it is also a BYOB with all the glasses there if you fancy a tipple with your meal. Result!
Honestly, forget some of the rare negative reviews on here, one is for the wrong plaice (see what I did there...) and the other is about an unperfect booking experience. I mean, even if it did happen, who books a fish and chip gaff where the the two owners are working hard behind the fryer and till dealing also with walk ins and expects the white cloth treatment.
So there you go, the secrets out, this is the best chippy in town.
PS - if the owners read this, your guacamole is...
