An amazing curry. An incredible family.
Recommended by a close family friend, we took my father here for his 60th birthday, an important milestone for any family. We were told that this restaurant was amazing - and trust me when I say that we are not disappointed in the slightest!
At first you get the impression that you’ve stepped into somebody’s living room. And that’s accurate because the experience is one of a family inviting you into their home.
A genuine and patient daughter, a caring father, a chef who walks over out of the kitchen and ensures that the food is to your liking and the evening ending with an entire family singing happy birthday, sharing their culture with you.
I can’t believe I’ve lived in Penge for so long and have missed out on eating here. Incredible quality of food, a cozy ambiance, beautiful art on the wall. You honestly can’t go wrong with going here and I would recommend this to any of my closest friends and family.
Thank you to the Himalayan Kitchen for making my father’s 60th birthday a truly memorable occasion. It is a day we will look back on fondly. We appreciate you.
To anybody reading this. Give it a go! Do not let your first impressions of what a restaurant “should” look like sully your experience. Order your food, support this hardworking lovely family and experience an evening that makes you think “I wish I came here sooner”.
Have a merry Christmas and a...
Read moreI am updating my review that I wrote 4 months ago. base on tonight visit experience on Sunday 08/12/2024 after 6 times visit with my boys normally we are family 4 people my wife and son enjoyed their food but I didn’t enjoy my lamb pasanda at all £16.06 cost me and it was dry and chewy I told the owner chefs and the wife and the son about previous visits lamb was good this visit was very disappointing I asked for the bill and they charged me full price for the lamb curry that was dry and chewy? That’s fine by me if you are going to be rich with charging £15.00 giving discount £1.06 please Carry on doing same principle with all of your customers to see if you are going to have anymore customers left by the end of January? if you lose 1 customer every day you do the math! But I do believe charging me tonight £15.00 it is not going to make you and any of you rich? In fact you are going to open for the business every day tomorrow and the after but I am not going to be there again giving you my hard earned cash you lost business of 4 people tonight just for £15.00??? Good business men please continue with that principles to see how long you are going to survive? also prices very high but portions size and quality gone down to hill too high for Penge area? Offering...
Read moreI like to keep things fair. And for a business which has not many seats, it's not very accommodating.
We got there and there was a gentleman outside we assumed making a delivery to the uber person. They looked upset or unhappy about something and since we were looking for where to enter since we weren't sure (it was night time and it's not exactly clear). The gentleman appeared to not notice or care about our presence and proceeded to enter without even looking at us.
We followed and found a small room with about 20 seats maybe less. We were seated and shown the menus we thought a bit aggressive but nothing too strong or bad.
We then ordered and got our food. The portions for what i paid were dissapointing. I couldn't tell the dish apart of how much seasoning they had put on and didn't explain what was what.
Not only this they were yelling at eachother (the couple working) which made us a bit uncomfortable.
Would not go again even if the food was ok, it's...
