change in service levels as noted by other reviewers I regularly come to this restaurant, at least once a month and often bring new friends as the food has always been consistent, reasonably priced and the service pleasing. However, during the last visit with my friend on a Thursday we received unusual service from one particular waiter (short with shaved head). The restaurant was not even half full so it wasn't a typical busy night here. We were seated at the table we had booked but the table was sprayed and cleaned while we sat there (not pleasant having disinfectant sprayed near the face!). Despite ordering mains and a good priced bottle of wine between us, we sensed the waiter was unhappy when we didn't order dessert, however, we had planned to order more wine to the table. This did not happen because he put the bill on our table (even though we hadn't requested this) and chased us up to pay. It was very odd as other diners were still eating and the restaurant was still open for another hour. We didn't understand why we were rushed to pay and leave. While waiting by the door for our uber (to keep warm) we heard him complaining about us in Italian to a colleague, hearing the word "rude" several times but unable to make out the rest. It is such a terrible shame that one waiter has affected repeat business from a loyal customer of 4 years. He made us feel unwelcome and sadly we won't be returning again. Read moreThis was the first time back to the restaurant after lockdown, although we did have take away during lockdown. I really would give 3 and 1/2 stars rather than 4 and here are the reasons why: On the whole, the food was as good as always, however, the calamari in the sea food linguini was overcooked and rubbery. The rest was tasty and the portion sizes were good. BUT... even though I called and booked a table the day before they said there was no booking. There was a table available, so that wasn't too bad. The service was the biggest issue. I don't know how they've organised it, but our waiter seemed to be covering tables throughout the whole restaurant, even to the outside tables at the back. In the end, the lady doing the drinks noticed that we'd been sitting there forever without our order being taken and came over. That wait repeated for each course meaning there were extremely long delays and our meal ended up taking more than three hours. They also forgot to put the desserts on the bill so we had to remind them to do that. One of our group was 85 years old so the long meal was a little too much for her. Read moreWas there tonight with my son. I will start with the good news. Food was lovely. Calves liver cooked to perfection. Lasagnati had perfect pasta and great flavour. Now the bad news. Lasagnati came with added plastic!! Waiter placed in serviette to take to kitchen. Chef said probably cling film but thickness of plastic suggested food packaging. Serviette not replaced. Son dropped spoon, waiter did not offer to replace. I asked for bread for mopping up remainder of calves liver sauce, crostini arrived. When finished, plates collected but oily table not cleaned. I cleaned myself with one remaining used serviette. When bill came, the crostini was not charged for, in recognition of plastic in food. I said I would not be paying for Lasagnati or service. These were removed from bill and crostini cost reinstated. The service was poor at best but plastic wrapping in food is plain dangerous.
