The wife and I ate here this evening (New Years Eve 2022). We booked a table for 17:15 but arrived a little early at 17:00 & were seated straight away. The guy who saw us to our table offered us two separate tables and said that they had further bookings for the tables in 3 hrs or 3 1/2 hrs respectively. We knew that both options would give us more than adequate time to dine so we just made up our minds and sat. We then got ourselves comfortable by which time another member of staff asked if we wanted to order drinks whilst we perused the menus. We duly accepted and two minutes later our drinks were with us. We then discussed what we were having and yet another staff member took our order. I must say that all staff were excellent and very attentive and amiable. We ordered from the four course Christmas set menu as everything we’d choose from the normal menu was on their but slightly cheaper. The menu we chose started with a hot and cold meze platter. Both were very fresh and tasty. My personal favourite from the hot meze was the calamari which is the best I’ve ever had and I’ve probably had it at about 20 other restaurants. The borek was also lovely as were all the other dishes but we left some humus as judging by the generous portions we needed to save room for main course and dessert. I forgot to mention that my wife started with a cocktail - Sex on the beach - delicious and I had a lime and soda. So onto the mains. I had the mixed grill with chips and side salad with garlic sauce - outstanding. My wife had lamb chops with sautéed potatoes. Again delicious!! We were enjoying the experience so much that my wife decided she’d have another cocktail so she ordered a cosmopolitan. They certainly don’t lack on the measures. I tried it and it was very generous and again lovely tasting and well presented as was the SOTB. After a short intermission we ordered our desserts. My wife had the baklava and I had the honey and cinnamon steamed pudding. Each to there own but these were FANTASTIC. We tried each others and were both like kids in a candy store. We loved everything about the place. The staff, the atmosphere, ambiance and music. We enjoyed the experience so much that we had to share a liquor coffee. Tia Maria was the final chance for failure but again it was excellent. All in all we weren’t rushed, we spoke at length to about three separate staff members and everyone was really nice. We will 100% be going back and can’t wait. One of the best...
Read moreMy friend and I decided to give this place a try since our usual haunt was closed. When I arrived, the restaurant was completely empty and lacked any atmosphere. Looking at the menu, I noticed the prices were quite high, but I believe that you get what you pay for, so I was hoping the food would reflect that value.
I was greeted by a young lady who seemed disinterested and unhappy to be working there. Its a great reflection on a restaurant when the staff are unhappy. When my friend arrived, we ordered houmous with pitta to start, followed by chicken wings, chicken shish, chips, and salad.
Unfortunately, the houmous came in a very small dish—not great considering the price—and it tasted store-bought rather than freshly made. It lacked the zesty, fresh flavor you'd expect. The pitta bread was thinly sliced, hard, and stale. We had to ask for an extra basket, as the portion was tiny and far from suitable for sharing.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend the houmous as a sharing starter—it’s just not worth it in portion size, quality or value.
The chicken shish was standard, lacking flavour and didnt appear to have been marinaded to the point the flavour was apparent. The chips were shop brought, the portion was not generous and the salad was mixed leaves in a small bowl on the edge of the plate. The chicken wings were tiny, and once again the plate lacked excitement and the portion was not for a adult. We didnt stay for dessert, by this time the bill was £55, i think my expectations have been spoiled from eating in some amazing local restauranrs therefore this was a huge disappointment to me. When i originally entered the restaurant there was 2 red flags, it was empty and the waitress was miserable. It was at this point i should have...
Read moreWent it to this west wickham branch for the first time with my husband and son...we usually go to the Beckenham branch that we go to all of the time and thought the level would be as good. Unfortunately the waitress got our starter wrong even after she reconfirmed and 2 of our mains completely wrong again after double checking when taking the order. We had to wait a while for both starter and mains because of that. All be it the waitress was very friendly but we believe she was probably very new and didn't know what she was doing at all, after the wrong order someone came and apologised profusely and took over. Unfortunately the waitress avoided us completely and didn't even come to apologise, we understand that mistakes happens at time. The food was very average. My husband had a hair on his chips but by this point we decided we weren't going to say anything anymore. The manager did give us a discount at the end, which we thought was effective...
