“Dog-friendly” - allegedly
Two friends and I, along with our dogs, visited this café based on its marketing as “dog friendly” and its glowing reviews. We left wondering: was the “friendly” ever in the room with us?
At one point, our dogs became briefly distressed and barked. An elderly couple moved away from our table and later complained to the management. In response, we were asked to take one of the dogs outside, for the “comfort” of other customers. It's worth noting that the only other customers present were that same couple.
Despite being labeled as a dog-friendly establishment, the atmosphere from the moment we arrived told a different story. The staff appeared uncomfortable around our dogs and kept their distance. The only rule communicated to us was that dogs were not allowed on the furniture, which we respected. Although the manager did offer an apology after the couple left, it felt hollow. It’s contradictory and frankly, unacceptable to promote your business as welcoming to dog owners while prioritising the preferences of those who clearly aren’t comfortable around dogs, especially when it's convenient to do so.
