We decided to visit Islands café for a spot of lunch on the back of the other Google reviews and what a winner. It's a simple, unpretentious kind of place with a short menu and an unhurried vibe.
I went for the Tuna Mexican toastie on ciabatta while my other half plumped for chicken & bacon on sourdough. What a great choice! The bread was fresh, nicely toasted and the tuna filling simply divine. No fancy salad or condiments, no flowers or violin accompaniment, just simple food made well.
For dessert I figured that the chocolate and orange cake would be a good chaser but it was a tough choice. There were a lot of cakes on offer and they all looked pretty good. Still I was happy with my selection and it went nicely with a flat white.
