Ithaki Greek Kitchen — Restaurant in London

I went with my family to Ithaki few days back and we had used the Groupon voucher for this. I was very excited to try this place out as I am a huge fan of Greek food. But unfortunately, the food experience was not at all pleasant. There was not a single family there in the evening for starters. That should have been a warning sign, but I can say there were few deliveries going from there. We had for starters, the hummus and fish roe (taramosalata) with pita bread, dolmadakia and grilled halloumi cheese. For mains, we had the chicken and pork gyros, squid, veg mousakka and sausage. We also baklava and cake. The food when we have it, some of it was okay. The after effects of having it was what shocked me. The oil from Baklava and fries was very old from the taste of it. The items I felt were already premade and served quite quickly. There was no freshness to the mains at all. First of all I don't understand why there is a separate Groupon menu. Is it to serve old unhygienic premade items? If you are not happy to collaborate with Groupon, please refrain from doing so, rather than treating customers differently. The very next day, I started suffering from food poisoning. It would most probably be from the fish roe that I had or the gyros. These would not been cooked well or stored properly. Even now I have not recovered from it. What I didn't realize was, I should have checked the food hygiene rating for this place before going there. Today when I checked, it is said 2 and improvement needed. Now I realize that recent reviews of this must be paid reviews. I blindly followed the reviews only and suffering the consequences for it. Either this restaurant has to be inspected upon again and the owners will need to take suitable measures to improve the hygiene. Else it will be putting people's lives at risk. Sad...

Well, we had 3 course meals with a friend to celebrate my birthday and it was not what we have except. The reviews online are amazing, but we didn't find it this way, and we are not picky or something like that. The only thing that was fresh was probably salad . The chicken was extremely dry and not that tasty and calamari extremely salty. The dessert wasn't fresh, it was heated up but tasted old. The waiter was extremely slow, and she didn't take plates from starter away until we finished our dessert. The glasses and dessert spoon were dirty too, and I would not comment on the bathroom, which I've used there.1 star for that 😅 I would not visit again, but the food is 2.5 stars . Everyone else can create their own opinion on their own experiences . It doesn't matter if you get a Groupon or not. The service and hygiene would be the same. The negative comment from owner sounds like, if you would pay £150 we will serve you better food? Sorry, is that really? I lived in Cyprus two years. This was not real...

A place that makes you feel at home. Went there twice and both times the service and food were above and beyond. Pro: . The food is delicious, even while writing this comment I feel hungry. . Big portions, don't be shy on asking for a piggyback. . The owner will make everything to make you feel welcome. The second time I went there it was to celebrate my anniversary and he gave us some complementary wine and beer. Little details that makes you feel the owner cares about the customers. . You can walk in or use Groupon for a better price (but limited food choice). I had both experiences and didn't notice any difference in terms of service or quality.

Cons: . You will get full! The portions and the flavour will leave you heavy and happy after dinner. . It wasn't a problem for me, but it happens a couple of times the delivery drivers came in instead of waiting in their designated area. This caused unnecessary stress and discomfort for some...
