Visit 8th June 2025. Decent but overall not good. The food was ok, the actual service from the staff was good, everything else not so. We booked a table for 4 and were sat down. Ordered food and 3 dishes had arrived and on the table. A big group of guests came in with no reservation and we were told the only way to seat them all together was to move us to another table so that they could join up two tables. They asked us if we could move to another which they shouldn’t have but we agreed anyway. After we moved they said they’d give us a 20% discount, great. We ordered the truffle siu mai and it was just not good at all, texture and everything was off. It came in a portion of 4 pieces and we realised after the first bite. We made the waiter aware and they took it away the remaining 3 pieces and said they’ll deduct it off the bill. When the bill came, it was incredibly unclear. The receipt just said “Dim Sum”, “Mains”, “Drinks”, with no itemisation to see the breakdown. On the second page was Chinese handwriting which was basically the order taking at the start, which they used to manually do the sums at the end. Assuming it was all correct and in a hurry we paid and left. My curiosity got the better of me and I manually calculated the bill when I got home and they did NOT deduct the truffle siu mai that was returned. I emailed them the same day to request a refund and to this day 22nd June 2025 I have not received a response. I will not be returning due to the lack of customer service and generally food that I wouldn’t travel for. If I could rewind time, I would have asked for the service charge to be deducted had I known this would be the after service. Also, do not order the wagyu beef stir fried ho fun. It’s a gimmick and wasn’t even seasoned properly. Save yourself the money and disappointment. If you want “real chinese dim sum” look elsewhere. Decor was nice, but you don’t go somewhere...

I love this place There is no other Chinese restaurant that beats this one in my opinion First I ever came here was 2014 and although things changed over the years I keep returning, lately less than I would want to but even if it's just once in a blue moon I enjoy it every single time. We do celebrate important events in our family here.

The staff is well trained and there for you, they are everywhere at all times and yet not on your shoulder.

Food has been always fresh, the portions are big and the price is great but in my opinion doesn't really reflect on what you get and to explain I feel that I get Micheline starred food at fast food price.

Also today I have discovered that my favourite desert there was awarded last year.

Going forward I feel that is a must to mention the really great way that they present the food.

The restaurant is cosy, clean, romantic, yet child friendly.

For my husband and I the only downside about it it's that every single time after a meal we better roll than walk 🤣🤣. I am not one that finishes just because it's already paid, if I am done I am done but here I cannot stop. And anyway if you think you have had enough they are more than happy to pack your leftovers.

There is also parking available, it is not their parking, you need to pay for it and it's not very cheap either, but at least you have where to park and I think it is managed by just park.

I will definitely return and I will...

We went there last night for dinner for a pre-arranged dishes, I'm afriad it was very disappointing. It draw the line for me, when a restaurant knowingly serve food that is off, that is just beyond comprehension: with a pre-ordered menu, we were informed that the desert on our menu is no longer available. Fair enough and we settled for the alternative. After much waiting, the desert that was on the original menu came out and we were informed that they do have it. Except that it was off! Imagine putting a mouthful of "off" food in your mouth. We put trust in the service, and even if there is 1% suspision that the food is not good enough to eat, its professionalism or even common sense, not risking to serve it to your customer. We had no trouble with the alternative, so why take that risk without even checking? One mistake like this in a restaurant is simply too much, because it has betrayed the customers' trust. So never again, not to mention that they then told us they only accept cash and we are two tables of twenty-something. Really? I know many restaurant owners and most of them put their hearts in their quality of food and service. Having served "off" food, and then ask for cash payment without complementing anything or a sincere apology from the manager is unheard of. We all left with certain amount of disgust...how sad...as I can see the potential of this...

We had forgotten to book a table. But luckily for us the staff were able to fit us in at the last minute for three people on a busy Saturday afternoon. Especially since we had already paid for parking outside. The restaurant is located in a residential estate, and the majority of patrons looked to be local. The restaurant was half full when we arrived at 1pm. But it had a nice buzz. Children were on adjacent tables and seemed to be enjoying the whole experience. The service was attentive and we were advised on how many dishes to order, which was just enough for three adults. We shared a teapot of Chinese tea, which sat on a candle warmer. This was a nice touch as it kept the tea warm throughout our lunch. The servers kept topping up our cups. Each dim sum dish can be found on a typical Hong Kong style dim sum menu. But some of them had a nice twist. We particularly enjoyed the kanefi and mango prawn roll and the beancurd and prawn cheung fun. The baked pork puff buns, had a strong yeast flavour, which over powered the taste of the filling and the grilled turnip cakes were flavoursome but burnt. The prices were a little more expensive than I would expect from a local outer London establishment and approx £8-9 per dim sum dish. But all in all it was a nice experience. We would return again, but not so often due to the value for money.

I recently visited JM Oriental Kitchen & Dim Sum Restaurant with some friends on a Saturday night. We pre-booked, but we were surprised to see that the restaurant was only half full. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a relaxing ambience. The service was excellent by all staff, especially Alex, who went out of his way to entertain us throughout the evening. The menu offers a wide variety of elegant Chinese food, not just dim sum. We picked a few starters and mains as recommended by the waiter, and everything was beautifully presented and very tasty. The food was not cheap, but it was definitely worth the price. We had a great time at JM Oriental Kitchen & Dim Sum Restaurant, and we would definitely recommend it to others. Pros: Beautiful décor Relaxing ambience Excellent service Wide variety of food Beautiful presentation Delicious food Cons: Parking can be a pain Can be a bit pricey Overall: JM Oriental Kitchen & Dim Sum Restaurant is a great place to go for a special occasion or a night out with friends. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is relaxing. I would definitely recommend it to others.
