Over priced & under delivered. Understand there will be teething issues with a launch but given J&S already have a very successful venue in Hackney, it was highly disappointing. Whilst providing decent flavour, the quality of ingredients was questionable, eg starter of asparagus was 4 skinny pruny stalks. I also question the skills in the kitchen, eg the foccacia came out stale and they agreed with us that it had been overbaked, we couldnt cut through the leeks at all (undercooked + weirdly blunt knives?), then my partner ordered steak medium rare, it came out well done, he sent it back for it to come back to us with the chef arguing that the special light on the pass told him it was the correct cook! Terrible that the chef would argue through a server and not simply cook a fresh steak correctly (the second one was also overdone but couldn’t be bothered to keep arguing while the rest of the table was eating). Other points of service were asking for a show of hands for each dish when ordering rather than going around the table and taking each individual’s order (and then remembering who had what). Also the upstairs room where we sat was freezing under an air con vent (told they can’t turn it off because it’s venting out the smoke from the grill downstairs!) and due to lack of soft furnishings, it was impossible to converse as we were overwhelmed by the noise around us. We went here for my wife’s birthday and we’re looking forward to it based on the reviews and the menu on the website. We booked for 6:30 as we have 2 young children. The next party to arrive did so an hour later and the one more before we left around 8pm, so it was quite dead for a Saturday night. Many items on the website menu were not listed such all the sharing platters, which is what suggests this restaurant is going to attract customers. Prawn and scallop starters were average, We had burgers and the sea bass, can’t fault the burgers but then it would be worrying if you can’t get that right and then also the sea bass which wasn’t that great, the teryaki mushroom we disgusting. The red wine (temperanillo) wasn’t great but my wife’s white was was fine. Can’t fault the service, our waiter was polite and attentive, but it’s not like she had much else to do as we were the only ones there. We did not stay for dessert as the selection wasn’t great and the experience wasn’t inspiring us. The toilets didn’t look like they were cleaned and attended to before evening service. Given the setting and expectation this restaurant should be doing better. Maybe it was because it was the last weekend before payday. I think maybe they do a better brunch an d Sunday roast trade, as mentioned in some other reviews. Lovely restaurant POOR service. I attended a bottomless brunch on Saturday 28th October 2024 and i must say that its a shame that Your barman ruined our experience. The food was absolutely amazing, the restaurant was beautiful and drinks were okay/ average. I have never been to a more stingy bottomless brunch. The restaurant had 3 tables present (we were one of them) but yet the service was so slow.

We had to keep asking to de served. Your barman who we was told was named Sergio kept smirking over at us- im not sure why but his energy was very arrogant and rude! I understand if the restaurant was busy but the other two tables left and we were the only ones there so there was no reason for the service to be non existent. Sergio was constantly on his phone, purposefully ignoring us. Im sure you’re not paying him to stand on his phone. We spent £60 per head to not be served. We were paying for a service that we did not receive. I will however thank Alex our waiter who went behind the bar to serve us some drinks as he could see that we were getting frustrated because our table was neglected. He did try to make sure that we were looked after. The barman kept disappearing whilst we were waiting for our drinks and then said to Alex that ‘we can wait’- wait for what, we were the only table there . I think he was avoiding us.
