Just ordered takeaway On website of Kipling . Spoke to restaurant to explain I wanted to make payment upfront by credit card. Instead the website set up the order without allowing me to make payment. The restaurant phoned me up immediately to explain that the credit card payment system may not be working. So the order was in place. That I had the option of picking up and paying for it. Or have it delivered and make payment on delivery by cash. This was slightly annoying. But I continued with my order.
The delivery person turns up knowing full well that it is cash payment of £20.70p. I gave him £22 cash. (20+2). He gave me £1. Then had the audacity to ask me do you want your 30p. Outrageous behaviour. He knew full well that I wanted my change. But he was banking on me not asking for the pittance. He huffed and puffed. He started to rummage through his pockets. Imagine how many more customers he has done this to. Poor service. Bloody angry with this behaviour. Not acceptable.
UPDATE:- The following day the owner phoned me to speak about the review I gave. He whole heartedly apologised for the service. But having spoken to him. It was apparent that he had no dea that the delivery person carried out such actions. The owner offered to give me a discount on my next order. I declined and informed him that it was the principal. The food I ordered was and always is delicious and of a very high standard. I was furious with what had happened. This will not deter me from ordering from this potentially excellent restaurant. This owner had placed the time and effort to sort out this issue. Shows professionalism and dedication. This is a great Indian restaurant and a credit to...
Read moreI note other reviews have noticed a deterioration in the service –we've been going for 15 years but tonight was appalling. Others seem to have had similar experiences. 7pm Saturday evening meal – nice quiet table in a corner, for half an hour, until a loud, very drunk, utterly obnoxious is seated right next to us. A pleasant meal becomes increasingly uncomfortable and we decide to leave – rushing coffees. Long wait for bill. Then no sign of credit card machine. We decide we can bear it no longer and go up to the main desk to pay. Manager/Head-waiter who is supposed to be bringing the machine is on the phone taking orders. He takes two of them whilst we stand there. Barman then takes our money. No eye contact, no thank you, no goodbye. I wait for the manager / head-waiter to get off the phone and explain my dissatisfaction, reasonably – expensive meal, we’ve paid a service charge which was automatically included / we understand that you couldn’t know the group was drunk in advance but you must have noticed, should have acknowledged / effectively we’ve been driven out and our evening spoilt / long wait for bill / not even a thank you or a goodbye. Response: no recognition that we had a legitimate grievance, seemed to find it amusing, no acknowledgement that anything could have been done differently. Actually said: “come on a weekday and you can have the place to yourself”. Denied there’d been a wait for the bill. When I pointed out that he’d not even apologised he asked whether a thank you or an apology would really make a difference. By this time the honest answer was no – I won’t be going back. ...

Waiters need to be taught some manners. My family (5 adults) went for a 50th birthday dinner and although the food was excellent the service was really disappointing. At the end of the meal, the bill was around £380. So of course we pay the £38 service charge. We gave the waiter £400 in cash and he had the cheek to ask if we 'wanted any change back'. That's really bad manners, you don't ask that question, you just bring the change back and leave it up to us to decide whether to leave an extra tip or not.
We gave them the birthday cake and asked them to bring it out with the candles on, they said fine and charged us an additional 15 pounds for this. In the end they brought the cake out, without the candles, took it out of the box on the table, snd left us to light the candles and cut the cake. What was the point in paying the additional 15 pounds to take it out of the box when we could have done this ourselves?
At the end of the night we asked if they could call us a cab and the waiter told us to go out to the street and get one. Never said goodbye or thank you when we left the restaurant. Terrible service. Not very attentive. Only people doing a good job there seems to be the chef. Wouldn't...
