I first heard about Konjiki through Instagram and that it was a new restaurant opening in London serving authentic Japanese cuisine. As someone who lived in Japan and loves Japanese food, I was looking forward to my first visit.

I started off by having the Chicken Hirata Bun and Red Dragon Roll and both were delicious. The bun had a generous amount of filling with tasty crumblings and sauce. The Red Dragon Roll was honestly one of the best maki I have had in London. The fish and other fillings all tasted fresh and the mentaiko sauce really added to the flavour.

I then had the Sukiyaki as my main course. There was a decent amount of beef, tofu and vegetables which were well-cooked with the right amount of tenderness and "crunch". The broth also had the right balance between sweet and savoury. I also could not fault the accompanying pickles, rice and salad.

The restaurant itself looks just like a typical izakaya in Japan with comfortable seating and a gentle and relaxed atmosphere. There are various decorations with a Japanese theme, but it does not seem gaudy or tacky.

The customer service was also excellent. Despite being busy, the restaurant staff were attentive and friendly. All of the dishes which I ordered were served promptly. The staff all seemed to be enjoying their work, which helped to enhance the dining experience.

Konjiki has only been open for a few weeks, but they are off to a very good start. I will definitely be back in the near future, especially as they said they will be...

We visited for dinner on a Sunday. They were not too busy. The decor was quite cool and gave an authentic vibe. We were put in a comfy 4 seater booth. I liked that they had a call button on the table too.

We were 2 adults and 2 kids and between us ordered the edamame, chicken gyoza, prawn tempura, sushi taco, aburi cheese nigiri, a selection of regular nigiri, tuna tataki, red dragon rolls and a katsu chicken curry. For dessert we tried the yuzu mousse and matcha crepe cake. The food was generally solid but some items better than others. Favourites were the prawn tempura (excellent crispy batter), aburi cheese nigiri, regular nigiri and the katsu curry. The gyoza was so-so, while the tuna tataki was probably the only item we didn’t really enjoy. The yuzu mousse was our clear favourite dessert but I could certainly appreciate the detail of the thinly layered matcha crepe cake, and for anyone who is a matcha fan this would be the obvious choice.

Service was friendly and food was delivered very quickly (probably too quick for some). The bill came to £186 of which £37 was spent on drinks. Overall an enjoyable dinner in an authentic setting, and prices seemed reasonable for the neighbourhood. The comparison which popped to mind is Kampai, located on the other end of High Street Ken. The latter has less elaborate decor but they are otherwise quite similar venues in terms of food quality and price point. Both solid options for casual Japanese in the...

In my opinion this is the best Japanese restaurant in London. I visited twice in the span of a week. The first time was so good I had to come back!

The restaurant is beautifully designed and decorated. Don't sleep on the vibes. It really felt like I was back in Japan

Food: my favorite dishes were the Sashimi special: it's 3 generous slices each of 6 different fish. I haven't had sashimi this fresh and delicious anywhere in London except for maybe at omakase places that charge many times the price. Seriously the scallop is so good. Katsudon: this recipe is perfect. Very authentically Japanese and executed brilliantly, from the katsu to the egg to the sauce. I could eat this every day. Whiskey Sour cocktail: this one took me back to those nights spent in the izakayas on the streets of Tokyo...... it's my favorite drink in the world. vegetable tempura: the recipe for the tempura batter is spot on. The fry is perfect. But for me the best part was the selection of vegetables, where I think chef was able to indulge in some creative liberties. Asparagus, bell pepper, eggplant, courgette, what an immaculate combination.

Everything we had was incredible but these are the ones I will point out to fit under the character limit. I also heard that the menu is still evolving so I will be back...
