Had a Sourdough hot bacon baguette. Had high expectations for the Sourdough, going by the reviews but I have to admit it was somewhat underwhelming. Not much flavour. They use streaky bacon, which is fine but it was absolutely cremated and turned to dust as I bit in. Also got a Ham and cheese Sourdough baguette. The ham was fairly tasteless and the cheese was so thin I thought it was butter. Could not taste any cheese. I was also looking forward to the artisan butter but could not see any trace of it on either baguette. That said, has a nice vibe and some tables outside but you'd need to get there early to grab one. Not awful and I would return but as a regular visitor to Paris, this is a far cry from an artisinal bakery.

REPLY:

Thank you for your response and I am sorry to hear you are in hospital. The comments you made are completely fair and I take that onboard. I think my expectations were set a bit high as I know what French artisinal bakeries can produce and your reviews are great, plus you always seem to be busy. Perhaps you do not have the same ingredients they have in France but I hate to say there is no comparison. You are of course correct and I should have been more specific with my order, and I shall remember that next time. I'm fully open to the possibility that it was just a bad day and my next order will be better so I am more than happy to visit again. The food aside, you have a delightful shop and I can feel the history as i walked through the door. I am sorry for my negative review but as the saying goes, the ugliest truth is always better than the prettiest of lies. Hope you get...

C’est magnifique!!!

I needed 4 strawberry tarts for a dinner party and I was feed up with the bland, bog standard strawberry tarts that are found in supermarkets. I telephoned early approx 9.30am and asked if they had any strawberry tarts that they could put aside for me to collect later. The owner/chef (I believe) told me he hadn’t planned on making any that day, but that he would for me, then to top it off he was able to make them within an hour so as to not keep me waiting too long. This was so refreshing to hear, in a time where many businesses struggle to deliver exceptional customer service.

Upon arrival I noticed the many customers sitting outside enjoying various hot drinks, pastries and sandwiches ☕️ 🥪 🥐 The shop itself is steeped in architectural history, which lends itself to the French authenticity 🇫🇷. The staff were warm and welcoming, greeting me with a friendly smile.

Everything had been too good to be true up to this point that I was apprehensive that the tarts would be a disappointment. Well, let me tell you,………….. they did not disappoint!! They were true authentic French strawberry tarts 🍓. Polar opposites from the bland supermarket ones, these had quality ingredients and flavour in abundance. The perfect amount of sweetness and packed full of fresh, ripe strawberries 👌🏼.

Needless to say I will be returning (frequently), I think next time I will purchase some of the quiches and sourdough bread 🥖. A big thank you to this shop for making my day by being so...

La Petite Boulangerie in Cheam village- vile and greedy owner

I visited this place today with my toddler and was disgusted by the owner who was greedy and extremely rude.

Here are the pictures of cheese tostie which was made from Essential Waitrose bread. He charged £4 for this. It is called "Boulangerie"

At the beginning he did not give me the receipt so I asked the server to check how much exactly he charged for this. He said if I am not happy please let him know so I said it is overpriced.

A bit later the owner came and started shouting that this is not overpriced at all in front of my toddler. I did not want to argue with him.

But a bit later he came back again 😡

and said he sells croissants only for 80p although it was paid £1 on the receipt and defended the cheese tostie is not expensive at all. Because he needs to pay the tax??? This man was behaving truly vile as he came to me sitting outside twice and scared my little one to justify his overpriced tostie.

My little one got scared and she did not want to eat the tostie.

I am not going back to this place again but am still feeling disgusted. I said to him I will leave reviews on my experience. He said he does not care because he's got good reviews on Google 😡 I do not recommend this...

One of the best French pastries I've had in Sutton👌 and on Par with the mire premium French cafes in central London. This cosy little cafe serves a range of delicious pastries from traditional pain au chocolat, butter croissants to apple lattice and baguettes. La Petite also serves a variety of bread based hot foods from panini to croque monsier (French cheese toastie with ham). The cafe is authentic the pastries are crispy, yet soft and 100% worth its value. I've visited this place multiple times and I have always been left more than satisfied. They also serve your expected selection of coffee which are all very good. The cafe has seating Inside and outside. Which is nice for a catch up with friends or a nice spot to have your morning coffee. La Petite Boulangerie is very busy during the weekends, but definitely worth the visit. If you're walking past I highly recommend a coffee ☕️ and the raspberry lattice.
