Ladywell Tandoori — Restaurant in London

Having read previous reviews this was sorely disappointing. The delivery was 30 minutes late and the food arrived tepid. The vegetable dhansak was weird. It was like someone had thrown in a truck load of chillies, realised they'd gone wrong somewhere, so threw in two trucks of sugar!! The sauce was watery and not thick with lentils and there were minimal vegetables. It tasted of hot sweetness, with none of the delicate balance of flavours between the hot and sour, which is what a dhansak is about. Horrible. It reminded me of a place in Brick Lane that told me they make their dishes sweet for western tastes. However I grew up with good Indian home cooking and this wasn't even close. The pilau rice tasted of cologne , which was even weirder! In all, although my friend liked his mutton starter , that was it. We paid over £20 for a naan and 2 poppadoms!!

This restaurant is right near the Ladywell Train Station. We’re staying in Ladywell for our holiday in London, and boy, are we glad we stopped in here for dinner. This is by far the best meal we’ve eaten in London! After several days of eating mediocre food at very expensive restaurants near tourist attractions, it was so refreshing to visit Ladywell Tandoori. We had the tikka chicken appetizer, then we shared several entrees including chicken curry, tikka bhuna, murg mukkhanwala, and potatoes. All were superbly seasoned and cooked. We were offered and given complimentary after dinner drinks. We both chose the port which was lovely. On top of a fantastic and very affordable meal, the owner and the staff were so genuinely nice and pleasant to talk to. One of the best experiences of our whole trip. Thank you,...

Wow, I went here for the first time this week and can’t believe I’ve never been before. The owners are absolutely wonderful and make you feel like your dining at their home, nothing is too much bother. And the food is fantastic as well. There are the usual dishes you might expect but also game dishes-we tried a duck dish that was lovely but there are venison and pheasant dishes too. The portion sizes are good and the prices very reasonable. We also enjoyed a complimentary drink after our meal. Worth noting that they are closed...
