Lakeview Palace Cafe — Restaurant in London

We have been going to this cafe for years. It's been always busy but the turnover of the tables is quick and food is nice. Until the recent weeks, with the arrival of a new waitress, who seems to organise the table sittings, and telling people off. When I was there last Sunday, she yelled at me to fetch my coffee over other customers' head so she doesn't have to get to the area of my table. Today, she asked me to change my table twice in order to share a big table with other customers. I refused the first time as I do not want to be boxed in against the wall with my nervous pup by four big people with a giant German Shepard. I also saw she told the customers next door to put their buggy away so five adults with a baby can fit in a four chair table, leaving the customers having to block a pathway. With waitresses carrying hot drinks to squeeze pass, accidents can happen any minute. I am not sure whether the sitting direction by this waitress has disturbed the natural flow that the customers sensibly managed within themselves previously or as the weather is getting better, there are indeed more customers with their dogs visiting, somehow, I feel it is a lot less enjoyable, more stressful going to this cafe now, which is...

Food is generally what you would expect from a cafe. Nice but nothing special.

However this is probably the worst service I’ve ever experienced. Went in around 12pm to order 1 breakfast, 2 sandwiches and 2 poached eggs on toast. Cafe was generally busy so expected a bit of a wait. Got told to expect 40 mins. That’s a bit much but could understand with how busy it was.

However, in the end we waited 1h 20 minutes for pretty standard food that shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes to prepare. I don’t care how busy the restaurant is, to wait this long for standard orders is nothing short of a disgrace.

3 tables who came in after us got served long before our order came. When our orders did eventually arrive after a hefty wait, we didn’t receive no apology from the server or no sort of compensation for the time we waited for a basic order.

Likely will not return. Should not be waiting 1h 20 mins in a cafe for food...

Stopped in for milkshakes that were small, expensive and incredibly sweet. Waited at the counter for a couple of minutes while staff chatted and ate in the kitchen, ignoring me. Had to call them over for service then got stroppy reaction from all the miserable staff for interrupting them. When staff came to deliver the shakes they just put them on the table and left without a word. We got no serviettes so my partner went to the counter for a couple and was ignored again. So she walked into the kitchen and got them herself. After we drank them a sour faced woman came to clear the table and removed the glasses without any acknowledgement. Despite me speaking to her, she completely ignored me. I don't remember experiencing such incredibly bad service anywhere ever. A nice location, but I won't ever be giving them anymore of my hard...
