I was invited to try out the new menu additions at Lamezia. Maria recently took over the restaurant from her parents and has made some changes to update the offerings. The restaurant itself is a cosy family business with cute decorations and a distinctly Italian flair. The menu is, of course, heavy in pasta and pizza options. I tried the burrata starter, which was absolutely perfect, as well as the two new pizza crusts, turmeric and wheat & hemp. The turmeric crust is lightly yellow and has a very mild turmeric flavour, it went really well with the truffle and cheese toppings. The hemp crust has a more earthy taste and looks slightly greenish. It's definitely a more savoury crust, and combined with the toppings of the Fiorentina I ordered, it was absolutely delicious. Both crusts were perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, traditional thin Italian pizza at its best! I'd definitely recommend the hemp crust, it was very enjoyable and a little different to the usual fare. I also got to try a few bites of the filled gnocchi, and these were spectacular! Be aware that filled pasta dishes are usually a little smaller than other dishes, so it's not a huge portion, but the gnocchi were so delicious and melt-in-your-mouth soft! Everyone at the table absolutely loved these. Service was also very friendly and professional, the only thing that I wasn't impressed with was how long it took to cook the food. Our starters arrived quickly, but pizza and pasta took over half an hour after we were done with the starters, which indicates to me that the order wasn't processed until after our starters were done. This huge gap between starters and mains was a little annoying, but other than that it was a...

Waitress got our simple drinks order wrong initially then ignored us to the point that I had to shout over to get her to come to our table as she had not brought us the water we requested nor checked up on us or asked if we wanted deserts after our plates had been cleared. When I asked for an ice cream flavour that was listed on the board she seemed very confused then returned to say they did not have this flavour (in which case surely it could have easily been removed from the blackboard). The bill included a 12.5% service charge which we asked to have removed as prefer to leave tips in cash according to the service. This also confused the waitress and who I presume was the manager that was brought over because she also just worked it out via a calculator and handwrote the new amount on the receipt. As there was 5 of us we split the total and all rounded up - 2 of us paid by card and the rest by cash; one friend also put extra change in to cover the tip so we had DEFINITELY paid over the total amount (minus the service charge) but another friend had used an old £20 note so had to go to the till to pay his share by card... where he was told we had underpaid by a few pounds and he had to cover this. He did so and the rest of us did not find out until after we left or would have argued this at the time. This all delayed us somewhat and we were actually late arriving at a gig we were attending nearby. On reflection I could not believe we were in the restaurant TWO HOURS and only had mains and drinks. The food was quite nice but the restaurant is very small with tables close together. We may have been a little loud as were a group but were made to feel...

I have regularly bought pizza online from this place and always thought it was excellent. To my astonishment that was not the case when I decided to eat in the actual restaurant. We ordered 3 dishes one carbonora where the portion was extremely small a spicy carbonara which was advertised with nduja salami but only came with just bacon. The last dish we ordered was a creamy mushroom tortellini. After waiting for more than 45 minutes- which was extremely long-, our creamy tortellini finally came but with Napoli sauce!!! (tomato sauce). I asked the waiter about this, and he changed to a creamy tortellini. A customer next to us had also ordered the same dish and was equally disappointed when her tortellini came with Napoli sauce. She also enquired about it and asked for a swap. To my astonishement the owner of the restaurant came out and started yelling at me saying that it was me that I told the other customer to change her tortellini. He was so rude that I was lost for words. I have never encountered such an unfriendly rude person in my life. I now know why the place is always empty. I will definitely not visit ever again after such terrible customer service. Thank you for ruining...

Ciao, I'm writing to express my disappointment with my recent dining experience. While I appreciate the effort to create an Italian atmosphere, I must raise two concerns. First, the Pasta all'arrabbiata I ordered was not up to standard. The tomato sauce was unpleasantly acidic and lacked the authentic flavor I would expect. Second, the list of 'Italian Rules' displayed in the restaurant. As an Italian, I found these rules or "guidelines" often exaggerated. The restaurant should focus on the quality of its food and respect for its customers, rather than on a rigid and stereotypical list of do's and don'ts. Buona giornata Ciao

Visited Lamezia for the first time on a Saturday night although we’ve lived in the area for a while. I wish we had visited earlier. The atmosphere is very cosy and authentic. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The decor, the music and the vibes are what you would expect from a family owned restaurant. We ordered the Pasta alla Norma and the truffle risotto on the main menu. Needless to say we enjoyed the food very much. Will definitely plan to visit regularly.
