Masaniello Café Pizzeria — Restaurant in London

Having visited many Italian restaurants in both UK and Italy, I found the food offered at this restaurant to be one of most authentic in comparison to the offerings in Italy.

Ordered the Masaniello pizza which was cooked to perfection. The ingredients are fresh and of a high quality. The cherry tomatoes smelt of the vine with the right crunch, rocket was fragrant and the parmesan shavings were more matured and powerful than the typical parmesan from the shops.

Overall, satisfied with the food.

My only gripe is that I attended for the first time with my wife and when I received the bill there was a service charge automatically added. The menu states that a optional service charge is only added on parties of more than 5. So why the charge?

The service was average at best and waiter lacked any enthusiasm or passion. I was not given a choice with the service charge and am not a fan of this restaurant's sense on entitlement.

Update for April '23 - still excellent, a lovely alternative Sunday lunch, perfect pizzas, a treaty fried burrata and even kids portions of everything available.

Really really good Neapolitan pizza. Tried two over trips 6months apart - the Vesuvio semi calzone (one end is folded, best of both worlds) with nduja is really spicy but the generous blistered crust gives you some respite from the heat, overall excellent. The second was sausage and friarelli (a spinach/broccoli like vegetable) which was also delicious.

There are starters, pasta (the vongole with pistachio was brilliant and generous with the clams) and there are seconds for non pizza/pasta fans.

Highly recommend this and the Twickenham other branch, support the little guy over the bigger chains...

This pizzeria has an authentic Italian feel to it and we highly recommend it as the opposite to the mass production pizza restaurants that are to be found everywhere. Our server was Italian, the surroundings felt Italian and the pizzas tasted deliciously Italian.

We had a family meal for a birthday and the wide selection of pizzas catered for our differing tastes.

You obviously need to reckon on spending a little more than you might at a chain pizza restaurant but the difference is merited and that is not really a fair comparison in terms of quality of food and ambience anyway.
