MC China
Wimbledon’s Best-Kept Secret for Comforting Chinese Classics
Tucked just off the Wimbledon Broadway, MC China is the sort of local gem that quietly builds a loyal following not through flashy signage or social media hype, but through consistently brilliant food, warm service, and a comforting atmosphere that keeps you coming back.
From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed like an old friend. There’s a sense of familiarity and ease, the kind you only get from places that are rooted in community. The staff are genuinely lovely efficient, kind, and attentive without ever being overbearing. Whether you’re dining in or grabbing a takeaway, the experience always feels personal.
The menu is full of the familiar favourites you crave on a rainy London evening, but there’s a noticeable freshness and finesse that sets them apart. Their crispy chilli beef is perfectly balanced: crunchy yet tender, with a sauce that’s bold, sticky, and full of depth without being cloying. The Singapore noodles come piled high, gloriously aromatic, with just the right kick of spice and no greasiness each strand infused with flavour. The humble egg fried rice is done with care, every grain distinct, seasoned just so, and never an afterthought.
Portions are generous, prices reasonable, and everything arrives hot and beautifully packaged if you're ordering in. But honestly, there’s something charming about eating in the clink of cutlery, the hum of quiet chatter, and that sense that you’ve stumbled on a proper neighbourhood favourite. It’s unpretentious, consistent, and wonderfully satisfying.
If you live in Wimbledon and haven’t been, go. And if you don’t, MC China is worth the journey.

Read moreI have been a loyal customer to mcchina for years now and can honestly say it’s one of the two best Chinese restaurants in the area. I prefer delivery at times as it’s nice not to see how slow service can be when you’re hungry and waiting in the restaurant for your food to come. Overall, the quality of food is very good. Staff listen carefully to your requests. Ambience is nice. Wait time can be extremely long but I’ll put that down to the freshness of the food. Delivery is very handy but can sometimes take longer than they initially tell you. I think they need to be a little more generous with sauces and condiments especially when making big orders I.e. duck and pancakes. I have to tell them to fill up to the top as it isn’t enough and hope I’m not charged extra. I feel certain items like seaweed (8.40£) is shockingly expensive for what it is and also things like salt and chilli chips that are almost 6£. Otherwise, staff are friendly but would appreciate to not be made to feel bad when I have an honest review about my chilli shredded beef. I am a fan of mcchina overall and always advertise it when I go. Prices have increased and some maybe not as justifiable but the food is tasty and fresh so I’ll give them that. Always...
Read moreIn Wimbledon; Hungry and picky on Chinese food we ramdomly found ourselves walking into McChina, it has a bright and modern shop front, entering indisde is bright and luvly with velvet red seating with brick and contemporary contrasted decor; plenty of plants and a great open plan ambience. It was our first time coming to this restaurant and the queues were long; so we wanted to eat here , and the wait was worth it because the crispy aromatic duck; fragrant and mouth watering, the sauce is spectacular with fresh cucumbers and spring onions, deep fried smoked shredded chicken, says it all. Singapore fried rice and Singapore fried noodles were absolutely beyond our expectations, the curry flavour, along with bites of bbq and cruches from bean sprout. This is a hidden gem we stumbled on. Our family ultimate favourite is the Hot Basket with 5 starters for £14 boom. The staff are quirky and polite, be polite and they will be extra nice, my children want to have a party there next because the experience was so lovely. I will definitely recommend this restaurant....
