Date night special on Thursday with two courses at £26.95. Waiting staff seem not particularly happy, maybe they’re having a bad day as was the chef! The baked cheddar mushrooms with creamy cheese and spinach sauce, toasted bread - lacked spinach leaves and very little cheese sauce. My gluten free bread were triangle slices of genius bread only toasted on one side! Very disappointing! However, my partner enjoyed his toasted rosemary bread. I was served these first by the waiter even though he knew I was gluten free so I had to watch my partner eat his starters whilst I wait for my poor one sided toasted gluten free bread. Then he had the 50 day aged rib eye 10 Oz steak(£3 extra), which weirdly had no eye. He upgraded the fries to sweet potato (£1 extra) and this came with a bowl of half a lettuce, not shredded but a complete half! Very odd! Barely any sauce in it either. I had their bbq pork ribs with mash and also went for the sautéed vegetables. The mash was stone cold and I returned the vegetables as they had some weird twang to them. I know I am sounding like a right old moany Minnie but I can say the ribs were plentiful and with lots of meat on the bone, nothing special but very filling. The manageress replaced the mash with hot one and offered us free desserts or money off. We had £7 removed off the bill once they sorted out refunding us for over charging us. My partner paid the price for a three course meal and didn’t realise until I checked it after. After some wait to correct this mistake, the waiter got this refunded to my partner’s card. The manageress apologised and sadly something I don’t like doing, but no tip was left. I wouldn’t return and this is my first experience of Miller & Carter, which has made me decide never again will I eat at one again. Very mediocre food...
Read moreEnded on a low as we were asked to leave / made to feel very uncomfortable / practically thrown out at 10pm. We specifically booked this restaurant for a long summer evening dinner, drinks & to have a good old catch up - as it said it was open until 11pm. The service was good and the food was good, up until the end, when a different waiter came up to us - whilst we still had some desert on a plate - and asked us to finish up & leave as they were closing.
I mentioned that online it said it was open until 11pm, and I asked if that was an online mistake?... he said, "no, but we close when everyone has gone".
I said that we were actually customers and we wanted to stay, but he just repeated that they closed when everyone had gone. So, we were literally asked to leave and made to feel uncomfortable, unwelcome & as if everyone else's custom was valued, but ours wasn't.
It spoiled the night for us as we hadn't seen each other for a while and had imagined having an evening until 11pm or later, but we were asked to leave at 10pm.
I would suggest that if you say you close at 11pm, then you don't ask customers; to leave unless they've gone beyond 11pm. And certainly not an hour before your official closing time!
We won't be booking here again, simply because our custom obviously wasn't welcome and our evening was rudely cut short! We shall spend our money somewhere that we're welcome to have drinks until 11pm if...
Read moreAwful experience Arrived at 3pm yesterday with my young son fir his first experience at a steak house Was seated by a friendly guy who asked for out order and drinks He brought the drinks and starter back to our table without saying a word just chucking them on the table The sticky chicken starter was played terrible, sauce everywhere and the pot it came in was dirty After 37 mins went past since the chicken had arrived no one had bothered to see if we wanted anything or take the empty plate or update us on where our steaks were I asked the waiter and he said it’ll be ready soon Another 10 minutes and the two filets arrived and looked cremated(asked for medium), poorly plated again and you could see the plates had been under a heat lamp for a good while as everything had dried up including the meat juice bar the dollop of butter which was hurled on at the last minute I told the waiter I wasn’t impressed and he simply took the plates and stormed off into the kitchen without saying a word He didn’t return so asked the bloke who seated us and dumped our starter for the bill as I was disgusted with them both and the plate overall but thankfully he muttered a “sorry, don’t worry about...
