I have had better experience going there on my own than with my dog.

They make out that they are dog-friendly at this pub (and so be like several other pubs in the area), but some of their staff are good with dogs, and others aren't.

However, it is not the staff who are the problem where dogs are concerned but rather some of the regulars who will try to pet your dog without asking or even be anti-dog by being unnecessarily aggressive towards it for no apparent reason - other than perhaps to make it awkward for the dog owner. I am tempted to let the RSPCA know about this and see if I can get some of the people who go there banned or at least looked into.

There is even one guy with white close-cropped hair who goes there, for instance. I know he has dogs, but ironically does not take his dogs there. I know he sets his dogs on others because I had to help a neighbour out with protecting her black labrador from them once, because he set his dogs on her when she was walking it with her son. He was very aggressive towards her, and I don't know what she would have done if I had not come along at that time (but also when I was out walking my dog too!)

I had one guy there today, who came back in after smoking to reclaim his seat, where my little dog was sitting peacefully near his seat. He stomped angrily near her, and so she barked at him, but then instead of let me deal with it he threatened to smash a bar stool on her head.

When I said I would be compelled to respond if he did that, Lisa the landlady came over and said my dog is banned (like others, she advised - but which I now suspect is indicative of punters like this, and not necessarily the dog owners themselves).

I would not recommend any one taking their dog there, but I would also be wary of some of the rough trade who frequent that establishment too - and spoil...

Before I start my review I used to work at this place for about a year!

I’ve have been coming here for years now and never had a problem. I will not be returning for sure since it’s been taking over by new management it’s been awful the customer service is awful! Staff are rude and disrespectful every question is a chore for them and don’t want to help at all , I asked to put my phone on charge before and the dirty look I got from Lewis was disgusting! Made me feel so uncomfortable.

I had an incident where I had made a tab and I went outside of the front of the pub may I mention where the smoking area, I got followed by Paul screaming that I hadn’t payed my bill in front of everyone and when I said I hadn’t forgotten I’m outside smoking my vape he just stormed back in. Bear in mind they all know me in there as I’ve said previously I’ve worked here!!

This is all because they have an issue with someone else close to us they are trying to make me and my partner feel uncomfortable. There’s many more things I can say about the staff in this place, but that will be sent to HR.

Would also love to add that this is my first review I have made for this pub as you can see it says my name on at the top , I wouldn’t be as petty to be writing a review without my name on it now let’s be real. I’ll happily never come back!!!!

We made a booking for a party of 8 for Sunday lunch. It was in a convenient location for our journey and only picked because of that. The pub itself is nice with wooden panelling and a decent garden which was great as it was a sunny day. Online booking system was also very good. The problems from thereon though were difficult to forgive. Firstly, most of the beers had run out leaving us a very small selection - on bank holiday Sunday, really? We were told that food would take at least an hour as they were short staffed and complicated by the fact that the chef had incurred an injury making things more difficult. We accepted that and ordered food knowing things weren't going to be perfect. The food, in fairness, was delivered within the hour. The main issue was that key parts of our order were taken down wrong and some of us just didn't get what we had ordered. A haloumi salad was drenched in oil and a sweet dressing of some sort which made much of it inedible. An identical caesar salad came as grilled chicken on a side salad. A plain salad main came as a side salad (quickly rectified in fairness). It was too late to change the other inaccurate dishes which left us underwhelmed.
