After visiting the âBeyond The Streetsâ exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in Sloane Square. I decided to curb my hunger by trying this Japanese place, just before the main gate to China Town on Wadour street.
Since I was ravenous, I had the following dishes:
Tori Karaage Chicken with Japanese Curry & Rice
Ebi Tempura
Chicken Katsu Teriyaki & Rice
Sapporo Premium Beer
Let me start of by saying the service was very friendly and of a high standard. Which I will most definitely give 5 âď¸ just for that.
Like many of of the other reviews for this establishment, the turnaround in ordering and plate to table, was very quick.
Unforgivably, the food didnât match my expectations as I would l like, when compare to other Japanese dining establishments Iâve tried.
Letâs start by the following:
Japanese Curry was made from a commonly available commercial sauce. Nothing unique about it. Asked for increase heat level, told that was not possible. Had to use quite a bit of Shichimi Togarashi to satisfy my pallet.
The batter for Ebi Tempura was quite thick and nothing unique with the batter. This was my most disappointing dish.
The Chicken Katsu, no panko breadcrumbs are used. Just standard breadcrumbs. The teriyaki sauces was not enough and one of the weakest Iâve tried.
Consider this more of a cafĂŠ than good fine Japanese dining.
I did try this based on the current Google score itâs been awarded.
Unfortunately, I will not be visiting again.
Just giving my...
Read moreA great quick cheap eat in Central London. We both had the regular chicken katsu curry. There was a large size option but we both agreed the regular was plenty big. Flavour wise the dish was good. However the curry flavour was certainly not the same as what you would get at wasabi or yo sushi. I found it more citrusy and it didn't have little chunks of carrot or potato. I've not been to Japan so I'm not sure what the proper way to make it is but just pointing out the difference. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing. I also ordered an Inari pocket which was larger than the standard size you would get in a supermarket or at yo sushi. Was really good and would defo recommend but maybe not if you've just had another big rice dish. Overall I would go here again. It's a no frills bargain place to stop and eat while in Central London. Great if you're a tourist or a local. As I was out without my daughter I didn't check if there was a baby change facility and I didn't notice any high chairs. Honestly though I probably wouldn't recommend with small babies and small toddlers. It's quite a tightly packed restaurant so not a lot of space for a buggy. On the other hand, older children would...
Read moreOne of the best places Iâve ever eaten at! The food was delicious, fresh and arrived very quickly! I was expecting a long wait time due to the busyness of the restaurant but instead (to my delight) I received fast and friendly service. The staff are very nice and do the best they can to ensure you have a great experience. The waiters were happy to help us with any questions we had and were very polite. The restaurant staff were especially helpful when it came to my friends children. As any parent knows itâs difficult to dine with children especially when theyâre young, however the staff worked hard to ensure that the experience was pleasant for both the children and adults. They found a way to accommodate the pram that was with us to ensure that it was out of the way of other customers but also in a quiet enough place for the child inside the pram to sleep. Their warm smiles put large smiles on the children's faces and the adults as well! Overall the place was amazing! Customer service 10/10 and so was the delicious and authentic Japanese food!! I will definitely be came back again and telling my...
