Very Disappointing Experience at Leicester Square
I had a very unpleasant experience at Burgers & Lobster this evening with two friends. The three of us walked in and saw plenty of empty tables, yet we were given the darkest one in the entire restaurant, with almost no lighting. It honestly felt like we were seated at the worst possible spot, even though there were many better tables available.
When the food arrived, the blonde waitress placed the dishes right on the edge of our small round table, which made it incredibly awkward to eat. We nearly dropped our cutlery a few times just trying to stop the plates from sliding off, and we had ordered a combo along with several dishes to share.
What shocked us even more was her attitude. She was unnecessarily rude throughout the evening, even with two managers clearly present. My friend tried to order a beer, and she refused, said she was “busy,” and walked away. At that time, only two or three other tables around us had guests. What was she so busy with? It felt completely dismissive and uncalled for.
Then, while we were still eating, she started sweeping the floor aggressively right next to us. Nothing was broken, nothing was spilled. As someone who runs a restaurant myself, I found this incredibly inappropriate. No decent restaurant should be cleaning around guests who are still eating. Where is the training?
We have been loyal B&L customers for years and often bring overseas friends to different branches. I was actually typing all this during dinner because I was that upset. Even the next day, after catching up with friends, we were still talking about how uncomfortable and strange the experience was. We genuinely still cannot believe it happened.
Leicester Square is by far the worst B&L branch in London. We will never recommend it.
The only good part of the night was Aman, the Asian waiter. He was polite, attentive, and professional. He noticed how crowded our table was and kept checking in to clear finished items. He was the only one showing proper service.
Photos attached: First photo shows the table we were given, completely dark, while many well lit tables were available. It was taken in panorama mode with no editing. Second photo shows how tight and cramped it was with food for three people. Absolutely no space left for us to...
Read moreEdited to add: Second visit: Unfortunately I have lowered my rating to 3 stars following my second visit. I visited on a Saturday at 1pm and ordered the Lobster Pasta. This turned out to be incredibly bland- they pretty much just chucked some pasta on a plate, added some bits of chilli and shoved various bits of seafood on. Really, really disappointed by this. The lobster seen in the centre of the dish had barely any meat on and it was extremely difficult to actually get from the shell. I was only offered a plate for the various shells halfway through my meal which was also a bit annoying. This was my third visit to a Burger and Lobster and I was really surprised by the lack of effort that went into this. I know they mostly do burgers but they could have atleast made an effort with the pasta dish. And to add to this, it appears that I now have food poisoning and have been horribly ill all day the following day- this was my only meal apart from cereal in the morning so not what sure else would have caused it apart from this. For a meal that was quite expensive, I’ve been really disappointed and now have to spend the rest of the day feeling awful! I missed out on taking my nephew to the zoo for the first time because of how ill I feel. Not impressed:(
First visit: Honestly just heaven on a plate. I had their beast burger here and can honestly say this was the best burger I have ever eaten! Such a lovely place, great atmosphere and well worth the money (even if I did ask for some tap water and instead got charged £4 for a bottle of water). I'm so excited to come here again and try out more...
Read moreVisited on Wednesday not for the first time for the bucket offer which ends soon with my daughter. Deciding to give them another chance after poor service on her birthday. This time was even worse and based on the lack of service I wouldn’t return despite this being somewhere we have previously frequented. Where to start the staff are not at all attentive the plates were dirty when I asked for new ones there was no apology instead looked rather disgruntled I had asked. My daughter had to go to the bar to get herself a drink as no one asked her if she wanted one the drinks were not nice either cheap flat lemonade in my premium tequila. Next came the bucket which is not a bucket at all but rather 2 small cold empty lobsters with hardly any meat. Served with 4 cold prawns on a bed of cold chips. When this was mentioned there was again no apology I was told there’s not a lot of meat because they don’t serve the stomach which tastes bitter. Didn’t care that it was all cold and when my daughter said can she have a lobster roll as the meal was awful they said no different prices. Which leads me to believe they know they are serving cold inedible food which a lobster roll is not. Manager also said let me see what I can do and never came back. Another waitress said was everything ok I said no she said well I wasn’t here so I don’t know what went on and walked off. They took the drinks off the bill which was the least they could do but wasn’t good enough. Also couldn’t use the toilets as they were disgusting. O out of 10...
