We had a terrible experience at this restaurant while celebrating my birthday and Mother’s Day with a group of 12. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the staff were overwhelmed and unprepared, resulting in shockingly poor service. Despite having a reservation, we were left waiting at the entrance, asking multiple staff members about our table with no clear response. Eventually, someone who seemed to be the manager told us to come in but then disappeared, leaving us to find and by seat ourselves. Once seated, it took 10 minutes for a server to acknowledge us, and even then, they only mentioned bringing menus—no welcome, no drink offer, no effort to make us feel comfortable. Another 10 minutes passed before we finally received the menus. Anticipating delays, I immediately ordered some starters to keep us going while we decided on our main courses. What followed was an absolute disaster. Our food took nearly two hours to arrive, and when it did, only six out of the twelve dishes were served. No one explained anything or even checked in on us—we had to chase down staff to ask about the missing meals. When the so-called manager finally returned, he brought the receipt instead of the missing dishes, and we had to look at the menu ourselves to figure out what was missing. He muttered a single, insincere "sorry" but didn’t seem to care at all. When the rest of the food finally arrived, it was cold and still incomplete. No one checked if we needed drinks, if the food was okay, or if we required anything else. Even getting the bill was a struggle—we had to ask multiple times, and to top it off, they had automatically added a service charge despite the horrendous experience. We had to request its removal ourselves. What was meant to be a special, stress-free celebration ended up being a huge disappointment, leaving us deeply regretting our choice of restaurant. Poor management, lack of communication, and a complete disregard for customer experience. If they had at least warned us about delays or managed expectations in any way, it would have been somewhat understandable. Instead, they ignored us, delivered cold food, and provided the worst service I have ever experienced. Never coming back, and I strongly recommend avoiding this place until they learn how to run a...

Will be contacting with food safety authorities and consumer protection agencies.
Dear Mr. Kingston, owner of the restaurant,
We had an absolutely shocking experience. We came to Mojen in Kingston expecting a pleasant meal. What we got was spoiled seafood, false advertising, and aggressive, rude behavior from the manager!
• The prawns and calamari were disgusting — smelled and tasted like old frozen seafood, completely off. • The chicken shish came with barley, even though the menu clearly says rice. When I pointed it out, the manager tried to lie, claiming it was “bulgur rice.” I know what barley looks like, and it’s an allergen. • What was meant to be a salad was literally a quarter of a dead tomato and a small roasted green pepper.
We politely shared our feedback and said we didn’t mind paying full price but wanted to be honest that the food was poor. Instead of acknowledging the issue, the manager got defensive, rude, and even invasive, asking where we work and where we’re from.
As we were leaving, he saw us writing a review and became passive aggressive, accusing us of giving one star. Then he followed us outside, started arguing, screaming, kept swearing, and finally showed us an inappropriate gesture.
We paid the full price, even though the only “discount” was a pre-applied 20% offer we just got near the entrance. There was no extra compensation for the disgusting food or the manager’s outrageous behavior.
Avoid this place. Disrespectful, unprofessional, and totally...
Read moreGreat Turkish Food!
We were looking for a restaurant to try, planning on trying somewhere new, and Mojen was on our list of places that we fancied.
From outside the restaurant, looking in, we were slightly concerned as the place was all but empty. We shouldn’t have been.
The first thing to note is that the restaurant is nicely laid out. So many places these days are trying to squeeze a table into every inch of space. Not so at Mojen. The tables are nicely spaced out, and the chairs are very comfy. However, it’s the food we will be going back for.
We shared a couple of starters. The Lambs Liver was of particular note. Beautifully seasoned and cooked to perfection.
We both opted for the Lamb Shish for a main. This was again beautifully cooked and, unbelievably tender and tasty.
The service was excellent. One of the things I always take note of is how often I have to fill my own wine glass. And the answer for Mojen was not once did I have to. Top marks for service.
I have seen a couple of the reviews complain about portion size. For me, these were about right. I certainly didn’t leave hungry.
We go to Turkey a fair bit, and are pretty picky about our Turkish food, and this is some of the best we have had outside of Turkey itself.
Can’t wait to go back and try more...
