We chose Momo as sushi is nearly always gluten free and my partner is coeliac. When we asked what he could eat we were told that the majority of the menu is not gluten free. We questioned that as certain items like salmon and avocado roll should be gluten free. We were told it couldn’t be because there’s mayo on top - but mayo is gluten free. So we’re sure this information is incorrect. The waiter did his best to help and was really nice about the situation, but he said he had a list from management of what was gluten free and that was a very small list of things. Surely the chef would have been able to help, but apparently not, which is worrying. Why doesn’t the chef know the ingredients in each dish? Sushi restaurants can do gluten free food so easily, so I urge Momo to do better and provide more options for gluten-free customers and you might actually get more customers! Sushi restaurants can usually do at least 90% of the menu as gluten free, so I’m really unsure why this restaurant can’t. We left and the restaurant lost their only customers on a Monday afternoon. We will come back as soon as they’ve made changes to the menu, as the food sounded...
Read moreI tried MOMO as a quick takeaway option. I had high expectations for this restaurant, but the food, for the price I paid, was no more than "good". Camberwell has become cooler and pricier in the past years, but MOMO is a great example of trendy over amazing & high quality.
No offense, the staff was ok ( though it took a while to be noticed but hey...?), the waiting time was reasonable, but the portions are small (teriyaki noodles for £12...) and the sushi was disappointing. £8 for 6 pieces of tiny thin eel rolls with a molecular amount of fish in it, with no presentation. Had it been half the price, I wouldn't not have been to fussed, but for what I paid it was lacklustre. However, I understand that sushi is always a hit and miss in places where sushi is not the main dish to be served, but I would just straight up stop serving it in their case to avoid disappointment... Maybe the fact that I selected eel was the issue...? I don't know.
Anyway, I'd say it's a decent stop for a quick bite like teriyaki noodles or some rice dish, but I would not necessarily bring my friends here for a great time.

Read moreAbsolutely unacceptable, the salmon arrived rancid and inedible, smelt off and discoloured. I rarely complain but this was a health and safety concern. Restaurant shows hygiene rating 5 so I expected decent quality clean food for the price I paid but received food that went straight to the garbage. I eat a lot of sushi so it is not my first time and I know when fish is bad enough to be a health concern. The presentation of the nigiri was pretty bad too. I couldn't even tell it was the Nigiri at first sight. I would give 0 stars if I could. Never buying from here again.
Edit: Included a photo as proof this was purchased from MOMO Sushi Bar Camberwell. I ordered through ubereats with a name I do not wish to disclose and received a refund from them. Their delivery was fast and they arrived on time. I am writing here because I feel I should share my personal experience...
