I’ve never walked out of a restaurant thinking “why did I bother?” Unfortunately, we were not really feeling welcome from the start. The portion size was small to average, the staff were not really friendly and I honestly wish we hadn’t gone there. When ordering, we were asked to pay before we received our dine in meal….. that’s never happened before. We ordered an 2 appetisers, 2 egg fried rice, a chicken curry and a chicken with cashew nuts both without vegetables. We received the rice first which was dry, unappealing and smelt burnt. Then my curry and a serving of sweet and sour chicken with vegetables (which we did not order). 5 minutes later, the appetisers arrived followed closely by the chicken with cashew nuts(which was clearly an afterthought as the cashews were dry on top of the dish). About 10 minutes later, after hearing an argument coming from the kitchen, the waiter came to the table and informed us that the chef had sent out the sweet and sour chicken in error. I said it most definitely was …… he looked as though he was expecting a payment from us but that wasn’t happening. He then said we could have it on the house. My appetiser was honey bbq ribs which were very oily and mostly tasteless and the other half had chicken satay sticks. The satay sauce was not appealing and the chicken was very dry. All in all, I will not be going back as we mostly finished our food got up and left and no one even bothered to acknowledge our departure. I think i now understand why I had to pay before hand, I hate the notion, but I would quite happily have refused to pay based on the service and quality. I hope this was an off night but I will not be trying it again as £32 is an expensive way to try...
Read moreThe food from New Grace's Chinese Restaurant Leytonstone was extremely poor. The black bean sauce gave us about 4 beans, no body or real flavour and there were no green peppers in our "green pepper" sauce, all yellow peppers. I don't think the chicken was cooked by stir frying, more steaming / boiling - it was soft and rubbery. The crispy duck was the least crispy duck I have ever eaten, lumps of white uncooked fat per mouthful - yuck. I put this food on my plate tried it and put it back in the container. The prawns were not very peanuty, just sugary, and I know in Hong Kong street food, all the prawn goes on skewer, but prawn tails on the skewer?? as the rest of the meal was utterly inauthentic, I think the prawn tails were there due only to laziness. Other family members were hungry, so it sort of got eaten a bit, but no one said it was nice and no one enjoyed it. And at least 50% was left uneaten. AVOID New Grace's Chinese Restaurant. CAN I HAVE MY...
Read moreThe Food is always Tasty,Hot and exactly what I ask for. The staff are always pleasant and willing to make your taste experience as pleasurable as possible. The delivery service is second to none and they always deliver well within the time they state,Normally 30 to 40 minutes, which for a very choosy person (I like to taste authentic foods) as my self it is very reasonable for a menu for 3 people the delivery time is very satisfactory. The cost is as reasonable as you can get for a meal that is as tasty as this. So...
