I was physically accosted by the management here and my stay ended with me calling the police and getting all my cash back. When the police arrived they said they were not surprised because they regularly receive calls from this place regarding management interaction and that they were completely on my side
I can’t say everyone there is sexist and racist but the management… I believe his name is Rob showed me signs of racial prejudice and is definitely sexism
The fact that i was a paid guest…requesting a key… and it ended with me being physically abused and kicked out.. doesn’t make sense. Management should be there to de-escalate issues not cause more drama. To resolve problems and not create them. That dude ROB I believe his name is a straight up power tripper. Within 2 days I saw how he interacted with the staff and guest. And every single time… he left a bad taste in my mouth
Here is a description of the altercation:
It was 6 am and there are 3 men drinking at the bar. One of them was Rob the manager. I asked him through the hostel door window if he could let me go upstairs to get my key from my friend who I booked with. (One key per booking) I didn’t even ask for a key. The manger follows procedure to go check my name and that I’m guest at hostel. Then he stands in the door and stares at me with the key in his hand. LI don’t know if he was joking or not but then he said I’m going have to charge you 20 pounds. I said to him you don’t even need to give me a key if you allow me into the front door because all the people in my room sleep with the door unlocked at night because (it’s really loud the door when it opens and closes) I don’t believe he heard or understood me because he was trying to he was trying to get me upset and talking over me. At this point the situation only escalated and I ended up being grabbed choked and scratched by one of his drinking buddies. Then ROB threatened to call the police because I was yelling. I called the police for him because I knew he was trying to scare me and he was completely wrong. I felt unsafe at that point
Arrival: When I arrived the young lady at the desk was working as receptionists, bartender and Dj. But super diligent. There are only young women working there with manager
It’s just weird stuff going on. They accept cash only for your hostal but charge card at the bar.
You can’t be older than 45 and stay there
Kitchen: there is two residential size refrigerators for a hostal with… how many rooms? At least 14 rooms with a minimum of 6 people in each room. And only 4 people can move around in the kitchen at once
Bathroom: has mold all on the walls and smells.
The room: STANK when i came in. The lockers are grade school lockers sizes lockers I can’t even fit my computer in the lockers. Nightclub closes at 2am and you can hear the music on the 4th floor until then
Security: while the security guard was there I felt so safe and he was so kind. I watched him solve issues without causing problems. He leaves when the bar closes. Watching how ROB interacted with the guest and staff it just made me want to throw up.
I saw a man get in trouble for smoking a spliff in the smokers section. He didn’t know he was doing anything wrong because he wa a foreign guest. the management just started attacking him with so much anger. When another guest was doing the same thing, the security guard kindly asked him to go to the park around the corner if he wanted to smoke a spliff. They happily cooperated. Unfortunately the man that the manger dealt with didn’t get that same treatment.
These are just other observations I made
I would highly recommended that ROB take some anger management and management courses. He is deliberately making the hostal experience bad.
Most people chose this spot because it’s the cheapest in town. It’s there only...

To prefice this review, I booked this hostel with a friend with the expectations of a bed and wash after our antics out and about in london.
I and my friend Joe arrived to stay for two days, the cost was good for typical London prices £50 for two nights for two men in what was labelled a 4 man room on the Hostelworld website.
At checkin was confronted with the most uninteractive sour individual i had yet met in London (which is saying something) it was required that a holding fee of £20 be placed against the room before entry in cash, Joe obliged and handed over the extra £20, we were also told that the checkout times would only run from 11am to 12pm if we wished to get the deposit back, strange timings but fair enough.
I and my merry traveller then made our way up to our room on the 2nd floor to find it already open which is just as well because our key did not work at all, and when we entered we found that it was indeed a 6 bed room not a 4 bed room as advertised on hostelworld.
We then sat our bags on our respective beds and when about our business.
The first night was wracked with the oppresive summer heat with the the ripe smell of stained matresses that havent seen either a clean or proper refurbished in years by the looks of it, the duvet and pillow could be described as lumpy and scratchy irritating the skin it touched, neighbors would take to whirling a t shirt about themselves to keep cool despite it being 3 am in the morning waking myself and Joe up.
The next day I decided to do something more comforting than sleep in that sty pit, i subjected myself to a 7 hour long tattoo session which by comparison was more comfortable.
The second night, it had become apparent that the facilities here were not able to keep it together with the 1st floor toilet blocked and main light gone, trundled down in the night to find what i could only describe as the crys of the damned eith people shouting over eachother on phones or generally anything at all, the wash facilities nhave never heard of the term drainage so enjoy some when feet when you get up for a piss in the night.
Once we had managed to sleep through our very own slice of misery I awaited the time to checkout to which the staff were late to allow us to leave, No doubt the managnent are more than happy to make you late for a train if it means they can pocket your deposit due to the unsociable checkout hours.
I am writing this review a week since this stay and i can report that both myself and Joe appear to have picked up some kind of pox from the soiled bedding in this establishment.
I would say this is certainly the cheapest accommodation in the area, nesstled in a rough neighborhood, i would not go here alone or unless i was after a good dose of scabies and no sleep.
A wrord of warning once you hand over that deposit and payment at reception you aren't getting it back, if you find the facilities and skidmarked bedding isn't to your liking you can just go elsewhere without repayment, there was plenty of signage in the rooms detailing this.
