A truly magical and relaxing experience. The Cafe on the East reservior is slightly expensive with a limited menu choice, particularly for those who have food intolerances, or are Veggies/ Vegans.

The Cafe provides a large outdoor seating area facing towards the East Reservior. Customers can sit outside and relax under the huge rain/sun canopy whilst taking in the breathtaking views of the Wetlands and it's Wildlife. The inside of the Cafe is quite spacious, and has unisex toilets with a designated disabled toilet providing baby changing facilities.

I was very impressed with the overall cleanliness of the toilets and Cafe. Some of the staff behind the serving counter, would benefit from bring more cheerful, however, the table waiting staff were excellent and very helpful.

The walk around the huge Wetlands area was relaxing, helped on by the terrific sunshine & hot weather, however, the cook breeze from the reserviors helped to cool us down. Lots of forms of wildlife and plants to spot. It's hard to believe that you're in the middle of a London.

Overal, I had a enjoyable o experience and would thoroughly recommend the Wetlands as a suitable venue for an outing...

Love this escape into nature within London. I come here to enjoy nature and often you get to spot a fox 🦊 There is a cafe. Never tried it so can’t say how it is but it is always busy and buzzing with nature enthusiasts. The good thing about it being a nature reserve is that there is no one running, no one cycling and no dogs chasing off the squirrels or birds. It’s an actual reserve. Sad part is that as it connects to a mini canal on the outside many dog owners are not responsible and have their furry babies off the leash who I’ve seen multiple times chasing and scaring off ducks that were out of the water or geese ! I love dogs very much but I also want the birds to have their peace so if one has a hunting dog it kind of should be illegal to have them off the leash when in this part of their walk as it’s filled with ducks, geese and swans. When they go to Finsbury Park or Clissold Park then that can be a perfect place for doggies to be off the leash. So yes if you want total peace for you and the birds then go to this wetland ! Just know that it closes before it gets dark when there is no point of trying to...

Came here for the anniversary bank holiday weekend and had a great day of activities including willow weaving, which was terrific.

My return visit in late august was just in search of sanctuary, and it was obvious that with the exception of the formal cafe and picnic areas, it's difficult to find a simple spot to have a sit down - particularly in the shade.

The pathways have benches, but I'm after some nooks and small clearings to sit down under a tree that isn't made impossible by nettles etc.

As a nature lover I appreciate the site mustn't be over managed, but I was surprised the visitor experience didn't offer more oases of calm to sit for an hour or more...

I set off, by public transport and Shank’s Pony, with moderated expectations as I had read that the track on one side of the reservoirs was closed for maintenance. In fact, both sides will be closed for maintenance until January 2026. However, I entered, via Newnton Close, and saw and heard plenty of wildlife … 12 bird species and 1 grey squirrel. I am a birder and loved the scrubby nature of the area I could access behind the cafe. The birds love this habitat too. Good work being down to restore this habitat too being “nature friendly”. The website and signs need updating to avoid disappointing any more visitors.

Tucked away in Hackney, Woodberry Wetlands is a tranquil nature reserve offering 11 hectares of reed-fringed ponds, dykes, and wildlife habitats just a stone’s throw from the city. Opened by Sir David Attenborough in 2016, this formerly closed reservoir has become a haven for birds, insects, and humans alike. With accessible walking paths, a cosy café, and open views across the East Reservoir, it’s the perfect spot for a gentle walk, birdwatching, or a quiet coffee by the water’s edge. The Coal House Cafe serves toasties, cakes and beverages. There are toilets in the cafe. Inside and outside seating.
