This used to be a spot I would regularly go to but sadly my last time here has put me off ever going back. I ordered the Salmon poke bowl, it tasted ok when I ate it but within a few hours I had the worst food poisoning! It was 100% from this as no one else in my family had any sickness and this was the only thing I had eaten that day. I reached out to Nue Ground about my experience and sadly no one ever responded. If they had showed some sort of concern I would have potentially come back to this cafe, but never again and I am advising my friends/family to avoid too.
Response:
Dear Nue Ground,
Thank you for responding, I would have preferred to have had this conversation privately through email communication which is why I reached out to you that way first but sadly that never happened which is why I felt like I needed to reach out to you on here. I would be very happy for you to respond to my email that I sent shortly after my visit.
As you can see from my review, I did not have a sickness bug nor had eaten anything else that day which is why it was most likely either the smoked salmon (an item which isnāt cooked like you stated) or maybe the rice, both items of food which people can quite easily get food poisoning from one serving but another person not as it could have just been one dish contaminated. I myself too have the Salmon Poke bowl most times I visit your establishment which is why I was so shocked myself too and also regularly get fish from the fishmongers on Abbeville Road which is an excellent place. But equally I do understand that neither of us will know for definite if the food poisoning was or was not caused by the food consumed, however, I raised the issue as I wanted to let you know in case it was which is the recommended protocol following something like this.
If I had known you would have liked evidence, I would have happily taken photos of the Salmon Poke which was the only contents in my stomach or asked my GP to have confirmed by a sample. I will remember that for next time.
I look forward to your response to my previous email sent regarding this issue and hopefully we can resolve...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNice decor and atmosphere inside. We didn't order any food but ordered a some drinks. However, the drinks were extremely disappointing and overpriced. I'm don't usually shop or eat around this area, so perhaps its marketed to a demographic with more disposable income.
But I ordered their "cocoa + avo post workout smoothie", which cost Ā£6.50. It came in a small water glass, I was expecting at least 3 times as much smoothie for Ā£6.50. See the glass of brown sludge in the photo attached, it's only a little larger than the pink latte next to it, which was served in a small coffee mug. The next photo will show you that it was served in their standard water glass (which is pretty small but fine if youāre only sipping some water)
The taste was disgusting, felt like I was drinking cardboard sludge - not sure how this got OK'ed for the menu. I often drink protein shakes with water (yes, they taste bad but I can stomach it), and would choose a protein shake over this monstrosity. It might be "healthy" but there are much healthier alternatives for drinks out there (I guess jokes on me for choosing the wrong thing). I didn't hear any smoothie machine running, so they've either got a super quiet smoothie machine or they've just poured me out something from the fridge. You can't seriously justify charging £6.50 for this. It should be taken off the menu.
My girlfriend ordered an "energy boost latte" for £4, which she said was OK, but not worth the price. I had a sip and personally didn't think it was anything special either. It looks pretty and all (see the pink latte in photo), but not worth the price - when you can get better elsewhere for cheaper too.
Now the food looks pretty good, and unfortunately, we didn't order any as we only sat down for a quick drink. I'm sure the food is lovely (as shown in other photos from other reviewers). But the drinks are surely a let down. Maybe this is what their target demographic likes - but certainly not something I'll be entertaining in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI live on Abbeville Road so I'm always walking past Nue Grounds, the food looks and smells amazing. I'm sure it tastes it too, although I wouldn't know.
I arrived at about 1:45 and asked if they were still serving food, to which the response was a ruse yes. So naturally i asked for a menu, after which I was told to sit down and one would be brought to me (once again in a rude and unwelcoming tone).
After not wanting to interact with the staff member again due to the first interaction, I just sat on the outside tables, waiting 25 minutes before finally getting a menu from a waitress who told me it was her first day. She kindly told me that one of the breakfast items was what everyone else was getting, so I was about to order before i realised breakfast stopped serving at 2pm. If id just been given a menu straight away, when I arrived there'd be no dramas, but I'm now writing this review, hangry (hence me whining) having just left after seeing the same staff member rudely barking orders at the waitress.
I might give this place another chance to redeem itself, but woeful experience. I'd expect better from a somewhere that charges £15...
