Gorgeous Sunday Roast at The Abbeville. Beautiful gem of a place in Abbeville Village – otherwise known as Clapham Park but absolutely feels like a bijou neighbourhood. I've never been to a Three Cheers venue before but will definitely check out their other offerings after this experience. Lovely bistro area on the pavement, will be lush when the weather gets warmer, quirky, stylish, cosy interior, and plenty of places to sit. Actual locals at the bar, diverse community urban and artsy without being pretentious. Quick friendly polite service, roast arrived within minutes, the biggest plate of food I've ever seen. Exceptional value for money – if you're hungry this will definitely satisfy – but also great quality and plenty of veg on the plate. The cauliflower cheese side dish was properly cheesy, a delight on a cold wet day. Something for carnivores, pescatarians, veggies and vegans. Yummy puddings, choose anything, they're all delicious. Really great wine selection – and they serve pichets which is quite literally refreshing, especially if you're dining solo or just two of you and don't want a full bottle (or if you want to work your way through the extensive and truly excellent grape menu). Had the South African Chenin Blanc, once it was chilled to perfection it was fizzy, fresh heaven. Very simple to book online, no need to create an account and learn a special handshake!!! Quite local to me but worth travelling for and easily accessible by public transport :)

We normally go to the Abbeville pub every two or three weeks for Sunday brunch, and they usually treat us nicely. In fact, I recently left a positive review about this place. However, today’s experience was completely different. Unfortunately, we mistakenly booked a table for the following day. We called the pub before arriving to confirm whether they could still accommodate us, which they did. When we arrived and asked about our table, the manager simply said “table 1” and then disappeared. However, there were no visible table numbers. When we asked for clarification, she vaguely pointed at a table. We politely asked if we could sit at a different table, but she abruptly replied, “No.” She also stressed that we only had the table they assigned for one hour, saying, “I told you already.” I understand they might be busy, but that doesn’t give them the right to speak to customers in such a rude manner. After being treated this way, we decided to leave without ordering anything. I understand that everyone can have off days, but this level of service was particularly disappointing.

A gorgeous pub in a lovely area with a really nice vibe. The atmosphere is great and the food is generally very good though the ham hock croquettes were a little stodgy and tasted a tad oily. Still the burger was high quality and the service was friendly and efficient. Everything seemed clean and well managed. I only keep back a star - and I'm in two minds about it - because there was a stool already outside which I decided to rest on for five minutes in the heat and a lad from the bar was a bit rude and told me off for sitting on it. "Mate you can't take chairs from the bar." Me: "Mate it was already out here" He apologised but still took it (nobody was waiting for a stool at the empty bar inside) and people were looking at me like I'd just slapped an orphan. It would have been courteous to wait till I moved and quietly bring the stool in rather than confronting me like a bar goblin. Stoolgate was a small thing but it made me feel a bit embarrassed and uncomfortable. Still I'll be back for a lovely pint in a lovely pub.

Whilst I’ve had many good evenings at the Abbeville before, my most recent dinner visit was slightly soured before Christmas.

Greeted swiftly and offered a generous sized table, and that’s more or less where it stopped being enjoyable. The female supervisor took over from our initial very lovely waiter and was incredibly rushy with taking orders and getting away from the table. I witnessed this supervisor appear to yell at other diners also within the restaurant area.

Starters and main dishes were very good, king scallops were perfectly cooked with excellent flavour. However with a dietary requirement I asked to see the ingredients of a dessert to ensure I would not have an allergic reaction. The supervisor said she would be back momentarily. Half an hour later, the other desserts for the rest of the table had arrived and the server we had at seating delivered those desserts, so I guess he was traded back into service. But still no clarification of ingredients, so I went without in the end after waiting 45 mins and asking twice if I could clarify allergens, and then if I could order dessert. Port was ordered and we were served dessert wine instead, when this was questioned, no definitive answer from the supervisor as to why. I would still recommend for the quality of the food and would definitely go again, but some things do need to change with regards to who is doing what because it seems like there is a lack of communication going on with...

Rudest staff we have ever come across. We live locally and have been many times because the pub has charm however each time the staff seem to get ruder and ruder. Today we booked for 4 for a Sunday roast but another friend decided to join last minute. We asked our waitress if we could add a seat (there was plenty of space to do so and we put two next to the wall so no changes to the rest of the rooms space 🤣). Somewhat begrudgingly she did so and then took our orders. 10 minutes later 2 other members of staff came over and rudely demanded our seat back saying it was needed on the other table. We asked if they could find another (there were plenty around the room) but they said there wasn’t one other free in the entire pub-a complete lie. After shouting at us and telling us we shouldn’t have asked our waitress rather then (as if we know the hierarchy of the pub) they found another chair-a miracle! Then rudely and poorly served us for the rest of the meal. At the end we saw they had added an ‘optional’ £15 tip to our bill...we paid all but this and then the waitress had the audacity to ask about the remainder to which we said “it’s optional”. We wish we had pointed out how unpleasant they had been. We will stop going here. Silly-loosing your locals! We’ve seen there are many comments on here about rude staff. You’d think the owner would have given them some...
