I'm giving it a low score after much debate. I wondered whether it deserved 3 stars but came to the conclusion that it really didn't. First of all it's a nice venue with a coffee shop right next to it when you go inside which even has a nice outdoor garden in the back. I also have no problem with the service which was good. I also have to say the portion sizes were good too. The issue was the quality of the food, and the price. We ordered a chicken katsu bento box, pork ramen and two starters - one chicken katsu and one fried squid. The starters were not very good. The squid was basically just fried nuggets of batter where you could not taste the squid AT ALL. The chicken katsu was not high quality either, the chicken was not succulent and you could taste that it was low grade. It resembled something you get out of a supermarket packet rather than good Japanese cooking. I didn't have the bento box but it contained more of that katsu chicken so it can't have been great. My ramen was, well... Not good really. Considering I've recently been to both Tonkotsu in Ealing and Shoryu, this ramen is not in the same league as those. Not even close. Wagamama ramen is also considerably better than Oita I have to say. All the ingredients of the ramen were low quality and the broth was non existent in finesse and flavour. Look, it wasn't disgusting or anything, it was just low quality. I think Oita, and I don't mean to be hyper critical just honest, uses low quality ingredients to begin with. I say all this and I still considered giving them three stars because it wasn't awful and I'm in full food critic mode here, but I just don't think it reached three stars for the food I'm afraid, and unlike other recent reviews where I thought a place was between stars and I went higher, this time I had to go lower as the other Japanese places I've tried recently were so much more superior. It's also not cheap which further inclines me towards two stars. £51 for two people when you've had two mains and starters and no drinks is way too steep for this quality. Sorry guys, but you just weren't up to the level I expect from Japanese food, especially based on recent...

Yesterday was my hubby’s birthday. I wanted to celebrate his birthday with our little girl Mochi (10 months old). @oitarestaurant has an outdoor dining area and I want to try it long time ago. They are cafe at daytime during weekdays and offer Japanese food at night & weekend whole day. The key is they are pet friendly 🐶🐶🐶
Luckily it’s not raining and we could sit outside. It’s just like a secret garden 🌹🌼🌺 and I couldn’t believe it existed in Wood Green🥰
WHAT WE HAD 🥟Mixed vege & chicken gyozas 🍗Karaage 🦑Tempura Calamari 🍣Sashimi 🍙Fire Dragon Roll 🍘Oita Roll 🍰Carrot cake
Their staffs are very friendly. When we were seated, a bowl of water was given for my 🐶. James, the manager, was so kind. He knew that it’s my hubby’s birthday and he gave us some free 🍺🍺🍺 and lovely treat.
The sashimi, including salmon, tuna & hamachi, were very fresh and thick and I loved Hamachi the most🐟😍. The Fired Dragon Roll which included king prawn Katsu, salmon & tobiko. I loved it being rolled tightly and firmly. Each piece was in bite size which very suitable for lady👸. Initially, my hubby wanted to order a Unagi Don. James gave us a surprise with their popular Oita Roll which included Unagi, avocado, ebi, salmon, white fish and tobiko. It’s so rich and flavoursome! This was the highlight of the night!😍😍😍
The owner prepared a carrot cake🎂 for my hubby’s birthday and sent it to our table by himself. So warmhearted and lovely🥰
I will have another post in Instagram for the starters 😉
Thank you @oitarestaurant offered a lovely dinner for us and special thanks to James who is the best restaurant manager I ever met🤗
Happy hubby birthday 🎉🎉🎉
