We read the reviews and decided to give this place a go. I arrived and was told there were 2 tables to clean and I can wait to be seated which will take 10mins. That was fine because I was still waiting on the couple to arrive. The waitress was really busy and didnât get round to clearing the table till 10 minutes and it wasnât wiped/ cleaned only cleared of last meals/ plates. We opted for the all day breakfast as I wanted some bacon, eggs and sausages and when it arrived I noticed the baked beans tasted a bit off so put it down to possibly brown sauce or vinegar and left this to the side. We asked for the eggs to be done to avoid runny yoke and it still arrived over cooked so we sent it back. I wanted a milkshake but had very limited options and my first choice of meal, meat lasagne wasnât available. Itâs worth asking for the dish of the day as itâs not usually stated in the menu. It seems people come here for the cake and take away coffee or smoothies so we made a mistake sitting down to eat. Will be trying out other eateries on the...
Read moreNice venue, unconvincing cooking. A well meaning local cafe with, on my visit, friendly staff. Pleasant ambience with good coffee and pastries. The cooking was not quite of the same standard. We ordered a big breakfast and eggs benedict. Although the ingredients were fresh and generous (good bacon, sausage and saute potatoes), I must make a few comments to the chef: You do not need a vinaigrette dressed leaf, tomato and cucumber salad on the plate with these dishes. It's completely incompatible and actually quite unpleasant! Also, my hollandaise was over vinegary and split. Poorly made. Finally, chopped chives do not belong sprinkled over a full English. It's questionable if they belong on eggs benedict either. If I go back, for cooked food, I'll be prescriptive over unnecessary garnishes and not order anything with hollandaise. I also noticed that a bacon roll seems to come with cheese as...
Read moreTerrible experience in Off the Hoof, I ordered a latte, when it came it was cold but I let that go. I then ordered the crispy bacon and eggs with maple syrup, order came 20 minutes later and it was inedible, bacon had hardly seen a frying pan and the eggs were undercooked. I told the waitress that this is not what I ordered, and she said she would speak to the manager. She came over and was immediately defensive and said that was how they served it and she had tasted it and it was perfect in her opinion. She didn't want to hear what I had to say, and then said I would still have to pay for it, just because I didn't like it was not a good enough reason to complain. Really!! I wonder what people see in this place, is it because it's the 'trendy' place on the high street or do people really enjoy the food? The staff are rude, service is slow and the food...
