I sadly had quite a negative experience with Peppers for my first order, so I thought I’d leave this review so that others who are going to try out the restaurant don’t have the same disappointment that I did. The image I attached is my supposed ‘Butter Chicken’, I have had MANY Butter Chicken in my life, and never has it been anything like this. I expect a rich deep orange/red sauce, a nice thin sauce, and that distinct Butter Chicken taste everyone knows. This is far more a korma style curry, I couldn’t even call it that - the sauce is even thicker and has a puréed veg consistency - it’s so far off a Butter Chicken I’m honestly quite in shock.
I called the restaurant as my order was for takeaway, as I thought I had been given the wrong curry, only to be told “yeah that’s just how it is eh”. I mean I understand there isn’t much they can do, but when such a signature dish that I’m sure EVERYONE knows what it’s supposed to be like, is completely not what it’s supposed to be, they’d be more prepared for a response like mine from a customer, I was told also “you obviously have not had it from here before”, and no I haven’t, but everyone is a first time customer once and sadly this will be my last time at Peppers even though it is my local now.
What I would love to come from this is for future buyers to be aware of what they’re buying if ordering of a Butter Chicken, and also for management to hopefully see this and see that making online customers more aware of what they will be getting by eg. having photos of this dish on sites such as Ubereats or online menus, as I (and I’m sure many others do this also) order Butter Chicken from every new curry house as I know what I will be getting and expect the same signature dish (or a close representation) from every new place, not a completely different curry. I would like this so there is more awareness for people who are ordering so they can know what to expect and avoid being dissatisfied.
I must admit I’m sat hear eating the curry (which honestly isn’t that bad, just really not what I wanted) and I’m just so disappointed, this was my Sunday night treat of my favourite meal and it couldn’t be further off what I had expected. I’m now £14.15 out of pocket for a meal that I so wish I...
Read moreA very nice Indian restaurant, which offers tasty food at reasonable prices. I've visited this place a couple of times with friends and family and it left a good impression on me. The food was very well prepared- not too spicey, but not too bland either. I really liked their chicken pakora, which usually takes some time to prepare, but they served me my food really fast. The service was very good. Our waiter was extremely polite and welcoming and offered to help us with our choise of dishes, for which I was really thankful, because of my lack of knowledge in Indian cuisine. The decor wasn't something special, but it really gave a nice feel to the room as it was Indian...
Read moreThese guys apparently own the next door Curry leaf. Used to be good but now serve the most pathetic food for an Indian taste buds. It's not Indian Curry house but a Bangladeshi one. Not that I haven't got anything against bangaladeshi way of cooking and in fact, One of the best fish on the bone I have eaten is one of bangla joint. However, Indian food is mostly cooked better by an authentic Indian chef. In my experience here in UK at least. No Brainer there.
So now if I see a "motor paneer", instead of "matar paneer", I steer clear. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone who knows what a decent Indian food...
